This is a sensitive question about obesity..?

How do you feel about it and does it influence how you view those who are?

I'm not...but I have several friends who honestly are. It doesn't make me ashamed of them but I worry so much for them and their futures.I want these people in my life for a long time but I worry that their lifestyles will limit their enjoyment of life.

i have a weight problem that i've struggled with for many years.

it seems impossible to lose it especially now i'm older but i keep trying and for my size i am in fairly good shape - i've aches and pains but my blood pressure and sugars are good. blood pressure is a bit high at times but the doctor says it isn't serious at all.

i truly dislike hearing comments about 'fat' or any other 'less than perfect' people. its unkind and rude.

i'm a food addict, some people are drug addicts, some are alcoholics, some are sex addicts, some are shopaholics. the thing of it is - all the other addicts can just not have any of their addiction - quit cold turkey so to speak.....you can't quit eating. so even though we are perceived as 'just being pigs' it is just as difficult for us to quit our addiction as it is for any other addict.

@ s - it is an addiction - you excuse the drug addicts and the alcoholics but you condemn people with a food addiction. i hope you are kinder in the real world than you are here.

some people see that there's a problem with their life, so they go buy more heroin.

some people see that there's a problem with their life, so they go buy a pound of butter, eat it all, and wash it down with a whole thing of oreos and half a dozen cokes.

the difference is that heroin is addictive and not using it causes horrible afflictions, and the other stuff isn't addictive and not using it causes people to feel more healthy and generally better.

why feel bad for people who think that whole sticks of butter and whole bags of oreos taste so good that they're worth destroying themselves for? they're not worried about their futures; why should you be? don't worry about their habits limiting their enjoyment of life - they've decided that that's the best possible way to get enjoyment out of life. buy them a bucket of lard for christmas and let them be who they want to be.

i have a lot of empathy for them, for many its an addiction (food/eating) i mean imagine your an alcoholic your told to quit for your health or w/e but you still must have beer everyday to survive. addicts dont kniw how or when to stop, i feel sad for them many eat out of. anger, sadness, b/c theyr bored to feel different.....how frustrating and painful it must be to be obese physically emotionally and mentally. its hard to not judge, but obese ppl need help and encouragement. i sugfest you talk to friends offer to hit the gym with them encourage them to eat healthier food and to portion correctly.

Try to get them be active with you. Suggest going on walks together, or cooking healthy meals together, etc.
