Wheel Adapters on my SUV?
Are adding 2" wheel adapters a strain on a vehicles suspension? I have heard different opinions about wheel spacers and the inherent dangers. I have also heard how wheel adapters are safer.
Is there an increase amount of strain placed on the suspension by the use of wheel spacers/adapters? I would like to think that the vehicle is strong enough to handle the offset. Especially if it was designed from the factory as an off-road vehicle.
I have seen some obscene examples with the use of extreme offset wheels with and without the use of spacers/adapters. Opinions? How is this different from my application?
What about the use of hardened aluminum adapters like the ones on eBay. Good?
My truck does not see aggressive off-road use. Just a lot of winter snow, mud during the hunting season and trails in the SoCal deserts. But it is used primarily as a family car.
But I have to admit that they do make the truck much more attractive. No haters...please!
Thanks!
