Christians: Do you believe men are superior?
11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
Also, why do you not shave the heads of women who pray without covering their hair?
Or do you not believe in 'this part' of the Bible...(this is NT by the way).
I probably should have said 'Do you believe that men should rule over women'. Oh well.
Sab 1, Corininthians 11 Fireball.
But if the Bible is the word of God, why would you not adhere to all within it (at least the NT)? Because he is supposedly omnibenevolent and omnipotent regardless of whether you agree with it you ought to accept that God has his reason, no?

As I have said before, these were written by men, who lived in the times of such things, and so, they put them into the bible. Stoning women, burning homosexuals, witches, lepers... that was the way of the day....to put something different into a bible, would be sacrilege and those who did it would be burned at the stake.
Even today, we have religions that still treat the woman as lower species....which is WRONG. Men who put themselves above any other human, are VAIN...and therefore, commit a sin of vanity.
So let all these Vain men do and think as they do, they will be reckoned with when the Day comes..

I don't believe they are superior. I do believe that if a man treats his wife like Christ did the church, in perfect love, doing only what's best for the family, then God gave men the job as provider, protector and head of the family. I think that's not to be abused, but to be held in the highest of importance. Women are the heart of the family, raising the children, co-leading and providing for the family's success. Men are to be the spiritual leaders, and I'm guessing more aren't than are. I think that is a big problem with families today. Men falling down on their spiritual job.

No. I support women's rights, as well as the ordination of women to the clergy. I do not take the Bible literally. However, I grew up with a mother who wore a headcovering to church and while praying. Some of my Mennonite and Brethren friends also wear bonnets or headcoverings. At any rate, I attend a church that ordains women, and I'm glad of it. There is no room for misogyny in the modern age.

God calls the man to be the head of the household, underneath Christ. He sets up the system of authority for families in this passage. Not necessarily superior, but rather, that men should lead.
regarding the shaving part, it says as if though shaven, not to shave her for it.

I really hate these questions. Here's why....
1. By bringing up our inconsistencies and reluctance to adhere to the more discriminative or misogynist aspects of the bible, it's as if you WANT us to engage in practices such as stoning, whipping, or to administer a state of inequality. Soooo, what's wrong with you?
2. Many of us use the bible as a guide, and only apply what traits we (personally) feel coincide with what a proper "God" should be/is, to the "God" be believe in. Some will follow the bible word for word, but there's a great portion of us who feel that god is of love, not control or hate.
EDIT1: Nothing can prove itself true, and evidence is susceptible to new evidence brought on by contemporary ideas of what's considered "true". People believe in whatever they can relate to most. Many collect sentiments, principals, and theories from various sources to better illustrate who they are, but there is a portion amongst us who stringently comply to the beliefs of one source.
"Hypocrisy" is a useless element in debate since we're ALL guilty of it in one sense or another. You're right, for those who believe the bible is ultimate truth, they automatically should follow it word for word, but christians in general follow the teachings they "feel" god has offered, more than those a book has offered.

No, I do not for in Christ Jesus there is neither male nor female
27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise
Thus in Christ there is no divisions, for He is the Head we are the body!
This verse also proves that women can be preachers too!
For Paul says we are all "Abraham's Seed" which is Christ!

No I do not. The Bible was edited by men to reflect the idea of male superiority.

I am a girl and prefer to be around men because men are outspoken and open for discussion.
Woman are usually afraid to express themselves and tell others what they really think. I think quiet people are annoying.

A difference in roles does not mean a difference in standing. You appear to have the two confused.

Don't believe what they will tell you, as they believe in the bible, and the bible states that men are superior, they automatically believe that men are superior
