Why does your voice go high when you are about to cry?
I've noticed that both men and women who are trying not to cry or are just about to cry, their voices go real high. Why is that?

emotional response causes a release of adrenaline, adrenaline contricts the muscles of the neck and throat. its the exact same thing that happens when people do a speech and get nervous. look up 'fight or flight' response. :)

My voice doesn't go high =/ .. my throat just gets a huge knot and I can't utter a word anymore =/

because they cry like a young baby and revert back to the fetal position with their voice pitch increasing.

no the one who cries loudly are not crying actually. They are actually pretending that they are sad and seeking attention from others. I one who cries with pain only tears comes out of eyes. Not voice.
