Do actors ever legally change their names?
I know John Wayne was Marion Morrison, Roy Rogers was Leonard Sli. My question is, do they just "go by" these stage names, and have their real name on all legal documents? Or, do they ever bother to legally change them? 'Cause I know one of Martin Sheen's boys is Emilio Estevez, his father's birth name.
Yeah, gets confusing. You won't find Curly buried under that name, it' s Jerome Horowitz (Howard).

Some legally change their names but other than that a lot have stage names that most people refer to them as. Im guessing they would have to have their real names on documents and things like that. But rappers especially are always referred to by their stage names.

Ice Cube: O'Shea Jackson
Dr. Dre: Andre Romelle Young

A lot legally change their names. Look at Prince. And I know Marilyn Monroe legally changed her name at some point. Those are the only two examples I can think of right off the top of my head but.

Many do legally change their names, and some just use a stage name. Anybody can change their name, and those in the "biz" do it often to get a name that has more appeal.
