It is the end of the world! The sun will lose all its fuel, it will contract and burst to make a black hole like all other stars do. It may be the primitive observation done by some philosophers. And what you see in the bible is the poetical way of some simple truths.

Christian belief or not but someday in the future... a Comet will strike the Earth (Stars falling out of the sky) and the blasts will kick up enough dirt so that the Sun and Moon will not be visible for quite sometime. (Sun and Moon will darken) Whether mankind will be around to witness it is another thing altogether.

This is a Hilariously ridiculous assumption.

There is No mention by Christians I know, of stars falling out of the sky. Get your facts straight.

BTW, the Sun and Moon WILL darken. It happens EVERY year. Solar and Lunar eclipses are a widespread occurance. It is strange as to how someone with your Vast intelligence would not know this.

You cannot Class people, as everyone in the "class" has widely differing beliefs. Stating what you stated is equally as ignorant as if I asked, "Why do black people wear flat-hats?"

That is some form of ignorance, correct?

I know a lot of Christians, but very few of the ones I know believe this. Most believe the same as mainstream science: the stars are spread through space and couldn't possibly fall out of the sky, the Sun is a star, and will eventually die, the Moon is a satellite of earth and shines only by reflecting the Sun's light.

How many Christians do you actually know, and have you actually checked out their astronomical beliefs?

Because somebody wrote that into a book of authority 2,000 years ago! Since nobody wants to question an authority that claims to be the word of God, that will be how it stands for the foreseeable future.

Another example, Plato wrote that the city of Atlantis lay beyond the Pillars of Hercules. Now, even though we know Plato was wrong, nobody would dare to think about editing Plato's writings!

For one reason or another, this being a science forum seems to draw away people who are very devout religious. But I may be wrong about that; anyway I think you may have better luck trying that question in other forums like those in the Society & Culture category of this site.

I'm a Christian, and was raised my entire life as one. I've never heard of this "theory" until now. You are making ridiculous assumptions. Christians believe that one day the Sun will turn into a red giant and consume the Earth...

to be honest one day the sun will die, 'the stars will fall out of the sky' i think they mean falling asteroid striking the earth
