It depends what you are looking for in a destination. My advice? Choose a place you've both never been and will both enjoy.

My husband and I didn't want to lay on the beach and drink during our honeymoon, we are very active people and wanted to do a lot of different or cool things on our trip. That being said, we chose a destination we had both never been to before in order to create memories together and we planned our trip based on what we like to do. Being from NJ, we chose California as our destination and we planned a road trip from San Diego to San Fransisco over the course of 9 days. During the trip we went mountain biking, kayaking, surfing, mountain climbing, visited places of historical and art significance, toured a couple factories and stopped at whatever else looked cool along the way. We stayed in top notch hotels and ate at amazing restaurants as well as from street vendors. We had an amazing time. We had beach and mountains and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Wicky,

How are you? I am a Honeymoon/Vacation Specialist and the owner of Honeymoons By CASSANDRA, LLC. The nature of my business is that I specialize in "couple-oriented" travel experiences, albeit a honeymoon, or a vacation with your significant other.

Based on my experience with clients, I am recommending one of the following caribbean locations: St. Lucia or Turks & Caicos(if you enjoy watersports), Jamaica(if you enjoy partying and all-inclusive resorts), The Cayman Islands(if you enjoy good food and plenty of dining options as the Cayman Islands are known as the "Culinary Capital of the Caribbean"), Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico(if you don't have or don't want the hassle of a passport).

I would also look into Adult-Only Resorts, where there's an age limit (if you don't want to vacation around children). These type of resorts can be found in Mexico and throughout the caribbean islands. After all, what could kill a romantic moment more than hearing a baby crying, or toddlers bouncing up and down--at 2 am--while you're getting your groove on?? Off of the top of my head, Sandals LaToc Golf Resort & Spa in St. Lucia, and Golden Crown Paradise Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico are not only Adult-Only Resorts, but they are All-Inclusive as well.

Wicky, I would be more than delighted to arrange your honeymoon experience, but if nothing becomes of my response to you, then it was nice to speak to you and share my knowledge/expertise as a Honeymoon/Vacation Specialist, and I wish you and your significant other a marvelous life together :). Before I go, just to reiterate any of the above, here are some factors to consider when planning your honeymoon experience:

    Your Desired Atmosphere

    (secluded, energetic, casual, or formal)

    Your Desired Amenities

    (spa, pool, gym, transportation, stores)

    Your Available Activities

    (water, golf, shopping, adventure)

We went to France instead of doing the beachy Caribbean thing but we live in south Florida and can go to the beach whenever we want.

I loved St Lucia. It was so pretty and so nice. We stayed at Cap Maison and loved it! We had a private villa with our own private rooftop pool. It was amazing!

I was just married in August, we choose Hawaii (Maui). That was an amazing, relaxing honeymoonn! So ,much to do (if you want) or just relax and lay next to the pool, or ocean...

Although, we did look into St. Lucia and that sounded like a great place to go as well!

Curious to know where you decide to go :)

I would recommend an island circuit in French Polynesia that would include at least, Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora!

You can find pretty good deals these days...
