My heart goes out to you.... Ive suffered for years with travel and ive actually made myself get on the plane and end up coming back even more ill a day or two later... its happened more than once.... it really is the pits! But you must get to the root of the problem because there will be one. whether it be from childhood or a more recent thing. get to the bottom of it so you can continue to enjoy life with your son opr at least get some useful tools to keep it at bay whilst away. Its so hard i know. rules your life at times. good luck.

I did while taking a test to bypass a minor for a teaching certificate in high school mathematics. I knew the subject matter pretty well beforehand but the study (trial) test books always began with simplest questions first which gave me time to rev up to the harder questions at the end. When I took the real test the questions on the first page were just as hard as those on the last and I freaked -- my mind went blank. As a result my score was a humiliating 29%. 70% is passing. Once done there was nothing I could do about it except to put the experience behind me and forget the idea of becoming a high school math teacher. As a result I had to change my whole career goal.

In your case it's only losing some money for an airplane ticket. Let it go. What's done is done. The best way to overcome a fear of flying is to do it, in small doses at first -- short trips on large planes, the graduate to longer trips on smaller planes. When you are flying think reality -- you have a much greater chance of dying in a car crash than an airplane crash. Airplane crashes happen but they are very rare.

Man that does suck that you lost the money for the tickets but it' ok. Anxiety is a serious thing and if you would have had an anxiety attack on the plan it would have been way worse than losing the money for the tickets. I used to have severe anxiety and i could not even leave my apartment. I almost failed out of school because i couldn't handle the outside world. Best thing to do is to talk about it and to change up your life a little. Try new things and such. hope this helps!

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life
