I used to have Red Wag Platys in a 10 gallon tank, in my opinion though, the small fish are boring

For a beginner guppies or mollies are good. I started with 5 guppies 6 years ago in a 10 gallon tank and am now at a 48 gallon tank with a lot of differentspeciess. For a 10 gallon 4-5 guppies or mollies would be good, you don't want to overcrowdd your tank (common mistake for beginnerss). Also having 1 angelfish, and thats it would be fine to.

Goldfish are VERY messy and grow VERY large. Don't put one in less than 20 gallons or you can have issues. In my 10 gallon I have several GloFish and a few Panda Corys. Remember: 1 inch of fish per gallon is the general rule. Look into some mollies or platies. They make excellent first fish. Many tetra, too!

a betta fish with a couple of ghost shrimp
3 or 4 male guppies
and thats about it, even neon tetras that are small need atleast a 20 gallon and goldfish are the most messiest fish u can get and a common goldfish needs atleast 75 gallons plus 150 gallon filter.

You usually can get a gold fish and yes I know they're boring and dumb but they say 1 goldfish per 10 gallons or something. Otherwise if the tank is too small they inhale their own waste and die.

ghost shrimp or maybe algea eating shrimp, you will have to feed them wafers, or small fish that don't move too fast for a temporary time.
