Do you know Hornady makes 7.62x54R now?

Update:

I know right. Even tough they charge $30 for 6.5 Carcano [even tough there 6.5 carcano doesn't feed]. I think some old timer in the company didn't want a "commy round" and this is his way of sticking it to us, So they can eventually drop the round.

I want to pick one box up and see how it stacks up against Winchester Metric.

Update 2:

Also it's a steel case too. WTF is up with that? Win is like $10 cheaper and reloadable.

Update 3:

I have a mixed opinion of Hornady. There 12 gauge shells work good. There .223 Rem is on of the the best rounds I ever shot. There 6.5 carcano [which they dropped] sucked. Bought two boxes of it and wouldn't feed in my carcano. Had to chamber one at a time and wasn't as accurate as the 50% cheaper Privi. I also experinced three hangfires in one Box of .44 Mag a few years ago. So I'm not sure how I feel about Hornady.

When I can buy a 440 round sealed can of Com-Bloc surplus 7.62x54R for $80.00...Why would I buy this?

Hornady can say "It's more accurate!" or "It's non corrosive!"

I say "But it's 10x the price!!! I'm not paying an MSRP of $40.00/20 rounds to fire out of a $100.00 rifle!"

edit: And non-reloadable cases to boot. Pshhh.

I did not know that. I had hoped they would start eventually with the popularity of the Mosin. But with a MSRP of $40 a box?!?!?!

No issues with Hornady. I use Hornady in my .17hmr, .223, .243, .270, and both my 12ga and i have never even considered using anything else even for plinking. until i can find time to reload i will keep buying Hornady because they perform better than any rounds i have tried. maybe not the most accurate(usually are) but as far as animals DRT, Hornady hasn't yet been beat.

From the descriptions im ready its just a V-Max bullet with a green tip... maybe a bit different in construction. Im buying 2 boxes of it. 1 to set on a shelf and giggle at the other to do some testing and see how it performs on the squirrels... Around me here its about $3-$4 less than that standard V-max ammo so if it works just as good ill just shoot the Z-max stuff

Hornady has really gotten into the steel case ammo thing. They now sell multiple calibers with steel cases.

I have not examined any of their cartridge cases but suspect they are not manufactured in house - rather contracted out overseas.

Overall I would not pay anywhere close to even $25 for a box of 20 Hornady steel case ammunition. I'd rather shoot real MILSPEC foreign ammo.

MSRP is $40 so the actual price is probably down around $25

ALSO that is their steel match... its got match quality accuracy but it doesnt cost as much $$ since its steel cased. Great for guys in stuff like 3 gun comp who are running and shooting high amounts of ammo... their cases get flung from here to china and they dont run back around picking them up to reload... the results is cheaper steel cased ammo that shoots just as good as brass cased ammo.

Whats up got some issues with Hornady tonight?
