What's the best way to remove stickers?

I bought some dvds and they have price stickers on them, what's the best way to remove them without ripping the sticker and leaving the case sticky if you know what I mean :P

Tell you what I do with those stickers that leave a layer of gum behind.... I get any sticky part of the label that's come off and use it to quickly dab at the gum. It gradually pulls the tacky stuff off - takes a few minutes but works every time. Cellotape works well too.

Otherwise, I use meths. That works better if there's paper left behind.

Remove the sticker and then clean the residue with a cotton wool pad soaked in white spirit.

    Source(s): Done it before.

Use a degreaser like WD40 (a synthetic oil), nail polish remover (acetone) or lighter fluid (naptha - the liquid fuel used in Zippo type lighters).

I agree WD 40 will do the trick, but do remember to wash your hands before handling the DVD as any residue may cause it to fail in operation.

Hold them above a kettle whilst it's boiling, the steam loosens the glue and makes them much easier to peel off.

Toothpaste works too. Mix it with a little bit of water.
