How important is diet in losing weight?
I'm trying to lose 40 lbs. in 6 months. For years I have had a lifestyle that is much too sedentary and my eating habits are poor. How important is healthy eating if you work out? I am much more interested in being active, and am wondering how much my eating habits have to change in order to lose weight. Can I just work out more to compensate?

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I think diet is more important than exercise. Some people might disagree with me, but it's just my personal opinion. I've gone months not exercising, but as long as I watched what I ate, I didn't gain a pound. I thought I knew what foods were wrong for me, but then I started logging my food and found out I was totally wrong. Here's a website. It lists all the counting calories websites that are free. Look at the Counting Calories tab. There are also meal plans and eating out tips. Of course exercise is important. I just find it difficult to stay motivated. Good luck!

having a healthy diet is the most important thing when it comes to losing weight.
You can lose weight by doing no exercise at all and by eating healthily.
And if you have a terrible diet and eat a lot of food, especially junk food, you won't lose that much weight.
But the best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat healthily

Losing weight is very important being overweight damages your tissues, puts strain on your heart, your legitimates. It makes you short of breath. Walking every day will help alot.
