Is this a good first car for me to buy?

I am 16 and am looking to purchase my first car, and am having a difficult time finding something I like, I found this car, but I have NO clue if its really good or not. So read the add and tell me yay or nay? please help me out and be helpful! I just want to know if the kms are way to high for me to be buying it as I want to keep it for at least two years!

"1999 grand am for $2500 obo. it has 253000 km on it in a v6 3.4L engine. its not bad on gas but the bigger engine makes it great for winter driving, i've been living in the country all my life and drove it out there for two years, never stuck and felt very safe! its great for any new driver or even for just getting from A to B, it has power everything and minor rust no dents very clean! i have been putting alot of work into it including 4 BRAND new all season tires and more. it is older but ive been working on it for two years and now it is set to go!"

Update:

She also said she put "4 grand of work into it since ive owned it, so its a great car and will never leave you stranded and will not need you to put any money or work into it at all, so its good to go" does that make a difference? :/

    No, no, no.

The seller is trying to recoup some of the costs of working on the car. Repairs to a car do not make it more valuable. They make it worth its normal retail value. And nothing makes a car worth less than high miles. I've heard this before: "But my car's worth more; everything works on it!" Umm... isn't everything *supposed* to work...?

I wouldn't pay more than $800 for it.

When a 13 year old car has over 200 000km on it, that's a bit of a warning sign to how worn the car is.
