straightening ethnic hair?

I'm an african-american with really thick hair, and I know when I let other people straighten my hair (with a flat iron), it looks REALLY nice and it flows, bounces, and all that other good stuff.

When I try to flat iron my hair it looks horrible, it's still as thick as it was when I started and it doesn't flow, instead it remains stiff.

So what can I do to get my hair to look like I just got it done by a professional?

get a good quality flatiron, and some good quality product! blow dry your hair with a brush before straightening!

Try putting a small amount of olive oil through your hair first. (it can be the cheapest generic you can find) Starting at the nape, take small horizontal sections, like 1/2" to 1" and slowly pull sections down with flat iron. You want to concentrate more on the roots than the ends. Sometimes I'll repeat the root area 2 or 3 times until it's smooth before continuing to the ends. Small horizontal sections are important and work your way up, clipping off upper sections. Hope this helps.

You have to Split your hair in sections, get a good qualities straightener and some straightening Cream can help you.

Get a good quality straightener and set it at a high heat temperature setting, and when you straighten your hair go down the strand of hair slowly.

    Hope this helps! :)

ok you may try wrapping it. it rather is going to save your hair superb and today! I doubt you will possibly have the potential to do it your self yet i will aim to describe it. First section your hair today down the midsection into 2 sections. you may desire to make certain which way you will generally wrap your hair - clockwise or counter. in case you establish clockwise comb the main appropriate fringe of your hair to the decrease back as in case you have been going to place it in a ponytail. Then comb the left fringe of your hair forward, from the decrease back of your neck all a manner on your brow. next, comb the main appropriate fringe of your hair around so as that it connects to the left side and then comb the left side around so as that it connects to the main appropriate. ultimately, comb/brush your hair around your head one final time to comfortable it out.

Ironing your hair is sooooo bad for it. Just be proud of your african-american heritage and accentuate your luscious locks without damaging it with chemicals or with heat.
