  • why would anyone think that polygamy (as mentioned in the Koran) is acceptable in the 21st century?

Just because something is mentioned in a 'holy' book written hundreds and hundreds of years ago (e.g. that a man can have up to 4 wives), does that make it right, relevant or appropriate for the 21st century? Doesn't polygamy break the criminal law of England & Wales?

  • Why did Germany abstain from the recent UN resolution re Libya?

Russia and China are at least predictable in ducking out of difficult decisions that might be seen by some as 'Western-driven' resolutions, but why the heck did Germany abstain? Don't they remember what happened when a madman leader killed many of its citizens before and during WWII?

  • Cash ISA transfer question?

If I have a few cash ISA accounts from previous years and this financial year, can I transfer all of these sums of money into a different cash ISA account this financial year or do I have to wait until 5th April 2011 to open a new ISA and THEN transfer the existing ISA cash into this account? The reason for asking is that as I have used up this year's allowance, I'm not sure if I can transfer my existing ISA cash into a new account this financial year that would pay a much better rate of interest.

  • where to invest money in a shares ISA?

I have a few thousand pounds to invest in a UK shares/bonds ISA but I find the choice of products bewildering. Any advice on a shares or bonds ISA where I can invest £3000 and make a reasonable return? I don't plan to take the money out for at least 15 years. All sensible advice welcome.

  • Where in the European Convention on Human Rights does it state or suggest that prisoners should have a vote?

Apparently, the above legislation can be used to indicate that prisoners should be entitled to vote in legislative elections. Please can you tell me where in the Convention this is stated or suggested? Thanks :-)

  • Are Will and Simon Gompertz related?

Is the BBC news arts correspondent Will Gompertz and Simon Gompertz (BBC nes personal finance correspondent) related?

And why is Will Gompertz allowed to wear horrible cardigans and jeans (and a ropey haircut) when all other BBC news correspondents are expected to dress in business-like, smart manner?
