Where in the European Convention on Human Rights does it state or suggest that prisoners should have a vote?

Apparently, the above legislation can be used to indicate that prisoners should be entitled to vote in legislative elections. Please can you tell me where in the Convention this is stated or suggested? Thanks :-)

It could be argued that it falls under

    Article 14

    Prohibition of discrimination

The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Convention shall be secured without discrimination on any ground such as sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status.

i.e. it is not directly stated that they have the right but it would be discrimination if they are _not_ allowed to vote.

The Article is _very_ poorly drafted and ambiguous by including the phrase 'or other status'.

It also allows a person who has 'offended society' to still take part in the society that imprisoned that person.

It is yet another case of a law being made by such a remote 'authority' and without consultation with the populace that it flies in face of 'ordinary experience',

    ARTICLE 3

The High Contracting Parties undertake to hold free elections at reasonable intervals by secret ballot, under conditions which will ensure the free expression of the opinion of the people in the choice of the legislature.

and in their so called wisdom this includes people who are in prison not that I agree with them

Prisoners ought to never get the the terrific option to vote. they do no longer look to be in penitentiary as a results of fact they are stable electorate. they have have been given a approaches too many rights already. As for Cameron repatriating means from Europe... do no longer make me snigger.
