Nascar results question.?

Stewart and Edwards finished no worse than 3rd in the final three races of the Chase. I'm curious how often this happens? When is the last time(s) before this that two drivers finished three consecutive races in the top 3?

Update:

I guess I'm deeply suspicious of NASCAR. I'm really considering the idea that what we just watched was rigged. Not so much that they gave Stewart the Championship, but that they allowed both drivers to run something a little fishy to dominate the field! The fact nobody has any idea the last time 2 drivers were both in the top 3 for 3 races straight suggests it is at least plausible. Anyone that has watched races for more than 4/5 years knows NASCAR will do ANYTHING for ratings and they finally got some.

Update 2:

Basically I don't trust NASCAR. Over the years they have proven themselves untrustworthy. Go watch Homestead and watch Stewart pass 4/5 cars per restart. Look at the last restart with Kyle leading. Stewart is past the leader by turn 1. There are two reasonable explanations. 1. NASCAR fixed it or 2. Other drivers pulled over and let them go (by choice or mandate)

Remember we are dealing with NASCAR and they like to fine people for pointing out how stupid they are Kesolowski last week.

what I do know, is that this is probably the first time that #1 and 2 for the championship, were running 1 and 2 at the end of the last race of year,

both drivers knowing, winner takes all.

Carl had the consistency, best average finish.

but Stewart had the most wins, he won 5 of the last 10 races.

for some reason, Tony really wakes up, at the end of the season.

While I'm a Stewart fan, I would be congratulating Carl if he won.

That was a great last race.

Watching Tony pass over 100 cars, to make up for problems that he did not cause.

I am sure that there has been races where the number 1 and 2 place drivers have finished one, two before. As for the Chase being fixed to raise the ratings and what not, did it ever cross your mind that both teams knew that if they wanted a shot at the championship they would have to let it all hang out? I would put money on that both teams worked very hard to give each driver the best car they could build.

as far as it being the top 2 drivers, i'm pretty sure it hasn't happened before in the chase era
