Washing machine door wont open... help ?
Hi
We have a hotpoint washing machine, i did a wash earlier and for some reason when i turned it on the certain wash setting it started up fine ,releasing the water etc, but then turned itself off :S , i gave it abit of a kick and it started working again, then the machine turned itself off again a minute or so later, i gave it another bit of a kick and shuv and turned dial abit and it started working, finally washed the clothes, then at the end the door wouldnt open, the lock light is just on red at all times and wont open, i looked online and some people were saying to do another wash and the door should open, but i did another wash and still the same thing, door wont open, my boyfriend had a fiddle around with it and by accident turned the dial so it started doing another wash so we let it just do the wash, but when that finshed its still doing the same thing, door wont open, Ive turned the machine on and off etc but still the same. what could be the problem?
thanks

Call someone, ur timer is messed up on the unit, hopefully its still under the warranty. Stop kicking it, they could blame u for the unit not working. If the unit is not under warranty, your looking at about 2-300 buck fix.

You may need to run a drain and spin cycle to remove the water from the previous cycle. Try starting this type of cycle to see if the washer will drain the water and spin. This may reset the control.
Press in firmly on the door to make sure that it is closed properly.
Make sure that the control lock is not turn on. This would prevent the control from accepting any button pushes. If there is one.
Check your manual too if you have not already. There may be a trouble shooting section.
If all else fails, call the (usually) toll free manufacturer number.

its likely that there is still water in the machine- unplug from mains / pull machine out / take grey waste water pipe off and drain water. the door will now open.

smash it with a large hammer until rendered useless and/or the door opens, retrieve your clothes, then strategically place it in the nearest ghetto/trailer park for disposal and proceed to buy a new washer.
