No sponsorship organization hands out cash to the children that are sponsored. None at all.

Your donation pays for the services the organization provides. And that means paying staff (usually a combination of local and international staff) to deliver those services, as well as for various materials for whatever project they do with the children.

Your sponsorship is symbolic - none of your money goes specifically to that child, but by sponsoring the child, you allow that child to get to receive services from that organization.

So, depending on how you look at it, all of your donation does "to" the child, or, none of your donation goes "to" the child - just depends on how you view these programs.

I prefer giving to organizations I know are doing fantastic work, and are working so that, some day, those they are helping won't need help any more, like
