Netbook vs. iPad vs. Laptop?

Question

I am thinking of getting my 13 year old daughter a iPad for Christmas, however I know  she isn't a huge fan of an all touch keypad. I know what she really would like is a laptop, but I feel she is way too young and laptop isn't neccesary till at least your second year in highschool. I don't know a lot about netbooks, but she would also prefer one of those over a iPad. She currently has an iTouch that she has had for several years and it is starting to break. She doesn't want a new one she wants a laptop/netbook/iPad instead, so don't bother suggesting that. She would mainly use this for gaming, facebook, watching the videos, listening to music, etc. She would not need this for school, we have a family desktop for that. What should I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

To answer your question, get your daughter a Laptop. A 13 year old girl is more than ready for a computer. Even a 12 year old is ready for a computer. Have confidence in your girl. If you eel like she's acting irresponsible , then threaten  to take it away.

Honestly if i may say this, i think it is ridicoulus to spoil a kid this much, it will only bring bad things. BUT if you must i would suggest a laptop as a tablet, to be honest, isen't really usefull for anything. You only buy a tablet because it is a cool gadget and cool to have, but it isen't really usefull. Think about it this way, it is a big iphone, except that it is too big to use on-the-go as a portable device, and it cannot be used for whriting, texting or phoning. Try think about what you can ACCTUALLY use it for.... You can watch pictures and videos, but not really on the move, but why would you even do that.  You can play small games, that you can also play a regular phone(not necessarily to be an iphone or ipod touch). So basicly a laptop can do the same, just better and faster. 

See it this way, a tablet is a tool that is cool to have and show to others, without ACCTUALLY capable of anything.

Just to be ahead of all the owners of tablet, who probaly will go "WTF!!" or "Bla bla bla, this this this", try to acctually think about WHAT a tablet can do, it is VERY limited. 

Btw a 13 year old kid needing a tablet or laptop for school? I am currently using a laptop for what would be similar to college in america, and all we use it for is a mathematic program, as it is simply easier to use, than buying a calculator that costs 300 dollars, so i see it as very limited what she could ACCTUALLY use it for, and a tablet isen't a school tool, if she have told you so, you should probaly check it in.

I suggest a normal laptop(assuming she isn't doing any serious gaming), and if it's just some very casual gaming get a netbook, my favoring brand is asus, good price and so far I have always been happy with what I got

Netbooks are the best. Smaller and easier to transport anywhere. Picks up wifi easily and is great for most. Netbooks are usually not for gaming, but my computer can be used for that. Its a netbook, has a built-in webcam and all. It's called an Apire One. You can buy them on Amazon or at Target.

ipad is fantastic but i think that it would effect their school waor. a laptop is much better because it helps learning but if u already have a computer than buy the ipad
if she has not got a computer than buy a laptop. dont buy notebooks. they are too slow and they are useless.
