Atheists, have you ever felt a God-like presence?

This is mostly for former Christians. As a former religious person, did you ever have a experience that you have no explanation for? Like suddenly flooded with emotions and thoughts you can't explain? *inset climax joke here*

Yes. I had that feeling often when I was a Christian and again since when marvelling at some aspect of nature. It is a feeling of awe and wonder and deep emotions - I quite understand why it could be considered spiritual - it is wholly human wonder and connected to the ability of our brains to comprehend to some degree the joy of life and beauty of the world.

The closest I've ever felt to a godlike presence was a poster of Cindy Crawford on a friends bedroom wall.

Flooded with feelings and had other people tell me that was the presence of a particular deity, sure.

Since then I have found out about concepts such as mass hysteria.

It's all in the brain. Proven fact. The brain is a really amazing organ.

I'm sure you've heard of the placebo effect? The brain, or sports training just by "thinking" it. I also saw a program were people would feel a presence in the room when all senses have been cloaked.

while i might pray i might often times sense convenience from this and that i became into guided by people in my existence to interpret this as God or Jesus presence and answer. i'm getting a similar feeling now once I meditate nonreligiously while i'm under pressure or in basic terms use affirmations. I had a pair of reviews that could desire to be recognized as those deeper form of "God" reviews. as quickly as whilst i became into nonetheless a believer and had achieved a streneous hike up a mountain and became into sitting interior the sunlight considering the overpowering elegance. I had this sense of being removed from myself and feeling at one with the full cosmos and another living element. My senses felt heightened and on a similar time I felt form of disconnected from my guy or woman self. My religious pal suggested it became into being linked to God. In hindsight i think of it became into endorphins. i've got experienced this considering the fact that with diving. i did no longer interpret it religiously. i think of its substantial to realize that many people have those reviews below particular situations and yet they have extraordinarily diverse messages from them. For some its validation of the Islamic God and others the Christian or insert faith of selection and yet they are all beneficial its their interpretation is right. i think of those many times are extra approximately in religious settings with heightened emotion and team reinforcement. i do no longer placed numerous inventory in them as data of the supernatural or deities. i think of psychology and recommendations chemistry/organic phenomenon are greater probable motives.

Yes, I thought I had, but now I do have an explanation, it was my own emotions and reaction to positive stimuli... in other words, I was seeking a feeling so I "felt" something. Like a natural high, if you will...

I have felt a god-like presence before. I was in restaurant one time I felt this sense of awe. I couldn't explain it. And then I discovered that that Chuck Norris was also eating in the same restaurant.

    Hallelujah!

I have been suddenly flooded with emotions and seemingly random thoughts, but I never thought it was "God-like", just human emotions paired with overactive hormones.

I don't attribute natural occurances to God.

I have endured postpartum psychosis. I've felt, heard and seen several presences. I can explain them very concisely.
