Information and Specs on the 2200 RE Toyota Camry motor?
Hello, my name is Anthony, and I am in need of some help! I recently purchased a 1995 Toyota Camry LE Wagon. And I must say what an amazing vehicle. But I am looking to sell it. There is nothing wrong with it. Current mileage is 272,520 miles. The 2200 RE 4cyl is one of the best motors ever made. From what I've heard these motors can reach 600,000 miles if properly taken care of. I have all the info I need as far as selling value. But I am trying to find detailed information about this engine. All I know is that it was the most reliable engine. And was in all of the 92-96 Camry's of all body styles. And it was in the Tacoma's and Tundras of that era as well. But I was wondering if someone could help me by giving me a spec list on that motor, and maybe a little bit of history besides what I've mentioned? I can't seem to find anything. Thanks in advance!!

If you go to the public library and look in Chilton's Auto Repair manual, it will show and tell everything about that engine and most everything else about the car as well.

Your Camry is fitted with the 2200cc 5SFE motor. You can fit a 3SFE motor which is 2000cc rather than the 2200cc of the 5SFE. The 3SFE were fitted to various models including overseas Camrys and Coronas RAV etc. However as Camrys are everywhere, and parts are not a problem, I would advise sticking with the 5SFE. It will keep your car original and you wont run into the problems of fitting non original motors (this can include engine mounts moving, cooling system modoifications, different springs for the different weight of the motor, computer compatability problems, gearbox mounting problems).

history precedes it. they live forever. keeping an eye on the t-chain & tensioners.
if it's a 22RE engine, it was never in a camry. so you might go to a shop and inquire as to what you may have.
if it does have the 22RE,
here's a list of the platforms it did come on,
"1985-1995 Toyota Hilux
1983-1985 Toyota Celica (actually an R engine-normally aspirated)
1985-1995 Toyota Pickup
1985-1995 Toyota 4Runner"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_R_engine#22R
as far as the specs on the engine, i'd assume, and this is a lot of assuming, it's a 89-95.5 gen since it's now in an obd1 platform.
so the only app for that, if i'm correct, would be found in hilux/runner manuals of that gen.
you can find that here,

parent page,
hope that helps......

Your Camry probably has the 5SFE engine.
