Gunmetal for jewelry, please help!!!?

I'd like to make a chainmail necklace from some gunmetal jumprings but before I buy them I was wondering if gunmetal would change color over time or cause skin discolorations.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Also if any jewerly expert or knowldgeable person wouldn't mind making a pro and con list of jewerly metals such as brass, bronze, aluminum, gunmetal, silver, sterling silver, steel, stainless steel, surgical steel, gold, platinum, tungsten etc. it would be SOOOO much appreciated.

most gunmetal I have come across is just a plating over steel. It won't cause skin discolorations, but the plating will wear off eventually.

For different jewelry metals, check out http://www.wedunit.com.au/pages.php?pageid=20 . You can make up that pro and con list yourself.

in the event that they are actual pearls they gained't discolor. only clean them with a delicate textile (do not USE jewelry purifier *until* it is extremely for pearls). The rhinestones could or would possibly not substitute colours even though it is going to remember on the common of the stones themselves, and the metals they are set in. Silver will tarnish while uncovered to air yet it is extremely truthfully fixed with some silver purifier. Golds could discolor slightly in the event that they have been worn yet you may clean, too. in case you got 'decrease priced' metals like silver plated nickels and coppers i won't be able to promise those will look quite much as good in a 12 months because of the fact the plating can come off. If the BM's necklaces are CZ then there is an danger of the stones clouding (it is going to ensue in low high quality CZ). For now, positioned each and each necklace in it is own ziploc baggie and shop them effectively. clean them gently each and every few months in case you so sense like it. deliver the products in to a jeweler suitable earlier the marriage and that they are able to wash them with an ultrasonic purifier if the stones and metals have compatibility with their cleansing ideas. purchase your self a selvyt sharpening textile and use that in the time of your products. If there is tarnish, use a undeniable silver cleansing textile. see you later as you at the instant are not donning the products between now and the marriage, they could shop their colours for the main area. only provide them a speedy wipe down earlier the marriage.
