  • Speech on cannabis or dogs?

Which is more interesting? Cannabis or dogs?

Cannabis from a medical standpoint (contrasting with other legal prescription drugs and a few case studies)

    OR

Dogs are awesome and here's why you should get one (dogs roles in history, health and psychological benefits, foster/adopt)

Whichever one ya'll think is more interesting I'll do for a persuasive speech. Anything you think I should include I'd love to take into consideration :)

    BACKGROUND:

This will be presented to a college class "Public speaking for beginners". I volunteer at a dog shelter and have a lot of information about dogs, and it's something I'm very passionate about, but I'm not sure if it would be interesting or relevant to my audience. I'm also very interested in Cannabis and have worked in a hospital setting where I stumbled upon a recording of a doctor talking about the benefits of "weed" and would need to to more research but I think that it's a relevant topic, although I'm worried it may be too over-done.

Feel free to throw me any relevant, credible sources I can use to cite the benefits of dog ownership or marijuana use for medical purposes.

    THANK YOU!

  • Computer Help, desperate, questing for desktop?

Hello, I'm going to be going shopping tomorrow for a desktop PC computer. I know a little about computers from growing up with a tech-savy dad. but...

I'm indecisive about which processor to get: i3, i5 or i7?

I'm going to be getting it mainly for photoshop/lightroom, browsing the internet and some gaming. My current computer is a windows XP professional running OS windows 7. I can't play anything with a resolution over half-life and in order to deal with my gamer rage I'm thinking about buying the best I can.

I don't know much about video-cards. I'd like something at least decent, the best I can buy. Photoshop needs to be as perfect as possible. When it comes to gaming I play a lot of fps and require pretty good graphics. If I get into video-editing or more serious about gaming I'd like the comp. to last me a few years.

I'm also open to information about brands, the best overall and specializes in (blank) ?

What other properties are important when buying a computer? Can you tell me about the abbreviations and other things? What's multiple or single CPU's? LGA? etc.?

For example, I'm a professional photographer and here's how I'd tell you to buy a lens: the milimeters affect how much of your surroundings you can see. an 18mm is a wide angle so I can take one picture and get the whole room, whereas with a 200mm I'd be able to stand from here, and take a closeup of something very far away. if there's two mm numbers then it means its adjustable or a "zoom" lens and the numbers tell you how much you can zoom (with more info. I'd specialize to their area, 18-25 wide-angle for landscape, 70-130 for portrait, something with 300mm for bird-watchers) Megapixels is all hype, you can't get much bigger than a piece of 8" x 10" paper anyways. It determines how big your image is, how much "space" it takes up or how "heavy" the files are.) When it comes to f.1.8 or what not, thats what's called the f-stop that controls how much light is in and also controls depth of field or what's in focus. It's best to have a lower number here. And voila I'd be comfortable sending you out to buy a lens. Probably ask you to check out specific features such as silent wave motor lenses (quiet autofocus!! :D) and definately make sure you have image stabilization.

thank you so much for any help you can give me :) If you want to suggest a specific model, my budget is around $300-$750

  • Is the EIA horse vaccine effective and worth it?

When looking at horses to buy, I noticed some of them had "coggins test" a test to determine if the horse has EIA (basically horse HIV). If they get this disease they have to be put down or qurantined for the rest of their life.

However there is a vaccine for EIA, the "Chinese Live Attenuated EIA vaccine". I was wondering if anybody had any information its effectiveness? Is it worth it if I live in a developed country?

    thanks a lot :)

  • How much does it cost for a class 6D (moped/scooter) driving course in Qubec?

How much does it cost for a class 6D (moped/scooter) driving course in Qubec?

I want to get my license but I don't know how much the course costs. I live on the south shore of montreal so like brossard, greenfield park, st-hubert, that kinda region. I was hoping for like a general cost for the course (it's only 6 hours so it can't be that expensive...)? Preferably in english :)

p.s. the school would be nice too (:

  • Obtaining Guardianship? Best friend is victim of child abuse...?

My best friend is a victim of emotion child abuse and neglect, as well as verbal abuse and minor physical abuse.

My question is, how do I go about getting my parents to get guardianship of her? My mom already said she'd have to talk with my dad about it and its a go. But where do I start?

How do i find a good law firm? Do my parents need to be accepted as adoptive parents, and can they choose to adopt only her and not another kid?

is parents who smoke pot and get drunk, a mother who verbally abuses her and makes her feel worthless, and a complete lack of love enough for my family to obtain guardianship of her? as well as her brother beats her up?

We have to room to keep her in, and the money too. Wil she be able to keep her stuff? What about her cat?

Thanks so much for any help u can give us.

  • Door Opening Etiquette? (all situations covered to be covered)?

    Hello.

I'm educating myself about manners and etiquette, and I have a few questions about the etiquette of opening doors.

    Who opens the door when:

You are walking with your female date

You are walking with you're male date but you reach the door first?

You are walking with your boss (or a person of higher status or an elder)?

You are walking into school with some friends (both boys and girls)?

Two people of the same gender are walking together and reach the door at the same time? (hard)

How do you open the door when:

It is a push door or opens inwardly?

    it is a revolving door?

It is a manually sliding door?

    Also:

Is it okay to open the door and hold it open for the person behind you with your hand when there are a lot of people?

What about when there is an elderly or disabled person?

Thank you for answering all that you can. Any help is much appreciated!

  • Extra's for Canon Rebel EOS XS/1000D ? Filters/Lenses etc. Experienced people only please?

Im going to buy a Canon Rebel EOS XS to share with my dad. It comes with an 18-55mm kit lens. He'll be using while in Ireland for landscape shots (probably with water) and candid portraits. I'll be using at summer camp for horses and kids (mostly in sunlight but some early morning and campfire pics). There will probably also be a bit of Macro.

I was wondering what kind of extras we should get to fit our needs? Will the kit lens do, if not what are the lenses and filters that you would recommend (include sizes and brands please)?

P.S We have a tripod and camera bag. I'm planning on buying an extra battery from Kijiji as well as a high GB memory card.

Thank you and Have a good day

  • What teenage privilages can i earn with my parents?

So... I'm going to be turning 15 on the 29th, and it's just begining to hit me that i'm going to be able to do a whole bunch of things in a short period of time. i don't want every responsability to hit me on 16th or 18th birthday, so what privilages can i start earning now?

I'm allowed out on my own at night with my big dog. I can go to the movies with my friends and walk across that big interstate alone. As well as go to the park by myself if I want to (I take my dog with me almost everywhere P= ) My parents trust me because I am always responsable and logical and we get along very well; but i think it's starting to hit my mom too. When I tried to talk to her she changed the subject and kind of ran away... XD

Sofar what I've come up with is:

A phone that you have minutes on, not a plan. (Since I'm using 10$ a month calling her anyways).

A 'solo' bus card or bus card.

Maybe start going into montreal with some friends

and volunteer at a store 25 minutes away by bus (if only i had a card so she wouldn't have 2 drive me everywhere...).

What other responsablities can I earn? and maybe how?

    Thank you!
