Speech on cannabis or dogs?
Which is more interesting? Cannabis or dogs?
Cannabis from a medical standpoint (contrasting with other legal prescription drugs and a few case studies)
OR
Dogs are awesome and here's why you should get one (dogs roles in history, health and psychological benefits, foster/adopt)
Whichever one ya'll think is more interesting I'll do for a persuasive speech. Anything you think I should include I'd love to take into consideration :)
BACKGROUND:
This will be presented to a college class "Public speaking for beginners". I volunteer at a dog shelter and have a lot of information about dogs, and it's something I'm very passionate about, but I'm not sure if it would be interesting or relevant to my audience. I'm also very interested in Cannabis and have worked in a hospital setting where I stumbled upon a recording of a doctor talking about the benefits of "weed" and would need to to more research but I think that it's a relevant topic, although I'm worried it may be too over-done.
Feel free to throw me any relevant, credible sources I can use to cite the benefits of dog ownership or marijuana use for medical purposes.
THANK YOU!
The teacher doesn't mind the topic of medical marijuana and is open to all topics (which is great)
I'm worried that i wont have anything to make me seem credible when talking about marajuana and will have to source other people and studies, and that I will to a topic that has been done to death (legalize the weed, man)
On the dog side, I do have a lot of personal experience to it, and could come off as very credible, but I wonder if it would be relevant and/or interesting to college students. But I suppose college teachers go through this every day, its just a matter of making it relevant with modern references...
I've also done like two other speeches that are dog-related and it might just be like REALLY?! AGAIN!? XD
Also i'm the kind of goody goody person you wouldn't expect to do a cannabis speech on, and have no experience with it, although i have a few friends who do, and a friend who was prescribed it following a lower-back surgery and I think that would

If you want to talk about a controversial topic that is interesting for persuasive writing, go with cannabis.
If you want to talk about a topic that you have personal experience with (I don't know whether you use cannabis or not) and you think you can write a good speech on it, go with dogs.
