Why do people bring dogs to an art fair?

That is a great place to get in some extra training, exercise & socialization, So many new smells, new things to see, what a wonderful outing. Many people take their dogs with them where ever they go.

Sorry you are not an animal person & sorry it offends you. It is just life with a dog. they are our companions.

Any large outdoor festival I attend down town, I take my dogs unless rules state otherwise. No, dogs do not enjoy art. But they get a great sense of pleasure in being out and about in a new environment. It's very mentally stimulating for them.

And I hardly call outdoor art fairs (and because dogs are there I'm assuming this fair IS outdoors) REFINED. With the usual hippies that show up. Or maybe that's just Denver... we ARE pretty close to Boulder... Damn hippies...

An indoor, dressy art show, NO, dogs should NOT be there. And I doubt the gallery would allow them to be

Are you talking about an outdoor art festival or an established, indoor gallery? It does make a huge difference!

An outdoor festival is usually frequented by passersby -- many who may just happen to be out on a stroll with their dog, while a gallery is usually an intended destination for an aficionado.

A "refined" event doesn't usually set up booths and tents in a community park or along the boardwalk of a beachside town or village.

So being a snooty, sarcastic cretin may have its place in one venue, but in another you would be a laughing stock. "Those people" who stop by with their dogs quite often will have money in their pocket and may actually take their dog home and return to make a purchase on something that caught their attention. So instead of appreciating the fact that your artwork is being seen and perhaps sought by such people, you are letting your closed-mindedness, greed and snottiness take priority over your talent!

Um because there is apparently no rule stating they can't be there? How the **** should we know? As long as the dogs are well behaved then honestly shut up and go stare at some art.

Dogs don't have religion either and yet every Southern Maine Pagan Pride weekend i see at least 4 dogs, a couple cats and the occasional lizard being brought along for the event.

they bring them if they want to go to an art show, but they have to walk their dog. so instead of walk them after or before the art show when it might be too late or early, they just walk them by bringing them around the art fair with them

I agree with you 100%. We have events in Sandpoint and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho which state NO dogs, yet morons bring them along. I especially like it when they bring their dogs to car events, where people have their expensive old cars, and they let their dogs lift their legs on the tires/wheels. People are rude/ignorant pigs.
