why do atheists celebrate christmas?
if its a christian holiday than why do they still celebrate it? I don't want a response like that its a time about caring about others and being nice, that's not it. its about celebrating Jesus's birth.

Well the whole American way of celebrating Christmas with trees and lights and all that are actually pagan traditions. I think atheists just celebrate it because it's been because so dreadfully changed into something that is about presents and festivities rather than what it is supposed to be about.

Why do christians celebrate christmas??? If its a pagan holiday why do Christian's celibrate it. Ooops, sorry; did I blow it??? Jesus was born in the spring you idiot. People celebrate christmas because, **** I'll have to say it; its a time about caring about others and being nice. Oh I am sorry, I bet you thought Christians were the only ones who could "be nice", certainly not them Satan warshiping Pagans. Sorry to break it to you again, but every Christian holiday is Pagan. Well, all except for halloween... Lol I bet you thought Halloween was some evil holiday, nope; its based on Samhein which was started by Irish/Celts were were already Christian at the time...

Christmas is a advertising gadget.. seem on the figures of what sort of latest issues are released at what time of the twelve months: its consistently holidays. They enhance their expenses for some months, enable the propaganda sink in that the greater you spend, the greater suitable individual you're. It doesnt take a genius to be sure that Christmas isn't any doubt purely a manner for shops and agencies to get carry of enormous earnings for some months of the twelve months. Christmas wasnt even around till the early 1200's, while the assumption got here approximately. It grew to become into made to unfold Christian satisfaction, and make human beings have self belief the greater you spend at Christmas, the greater you donate, the greater you do, the greater suitable Christian you're. take a seem on the employer information of ANY employer in usa, (some should help), december is THE month that they make maximum income. Watch television throughout the vacations - you will no longer have the ability to forget approximately relating to the quantities of numbers, bargains and costs being thrown at you on the exhibit screen, the pink white and blue, all candy-lined with a useful Christian spirit of a holdiay approximately giving issues. Yeah, -giving- agencies you money per a pretend premise. And nevertheless, human beings ask your self why usa is the richest united states interior the international...

In a nut shell, Christmas was called "Yule" and celebrated by Pagans. Roman emperor Constantine decreed that all Pagan holidays be Christianized and absorbed them into the Christian holiday known as Christmas. So, my question is, why do so many Christians celebrate a Pagan holiday? AND - Pagans could not have ever worshiped Satan, as the do not believe in him.

Why? WHY?? Oh I don't know, let's see...
Big colorful glittery shiny blinking trees (that double as really cool nightlights!)
Garland on the door and window frames, around ceiling fan blades, as a belt
Wall-hanging pictures/other decor wrapped up to look like presents
Finding that one perfect gift for that one hard-to-buy-for person
Putting ridiculous costumes and head accessories on babies
Making elaborate bows with simple ribbon and a pair of scissors
Crooked light strings on the porch when the person hanging the other end is short
Putting ridiculous head accessories on sleeping people, pointing and giggling
Wrapping gifts for pets and watching them paw the paper off
Watching the face of that hard-to-buy-for person opening what you found for them
A toddler's face when he discovers the bitten cookie Santa left on the plate
Driving around town at night looking at all the decorated houses
You don't have to have imaginary friends or adhere to any silly doctrine to enjoy bright shiny things and get a warm fuzzy feeling from giving people stuff. Plus it's pretty much a given that most people get roughly the same days off work/school, and it's easier to get long distance loved ones together when that part is already coordinated.
A few questions for you: If christmas is about nothing more than celebrating Jesus's birth, how exactly do you celebrate it? When someone has a birthday party, that person gets gifts, not everyone else, so do you not give any gifts? Is the nativity scene your sole decoration? Santa, elves, reindeer, candy and cookies, decorated trees, none of that has anything to do with Jesus, do you participate in any of those traditions? I'm honestly asking. (People never believe me when I say that but I'm saying it anyway.)

Well like most "Christian" holidays it is a pagan tradition and has been hermit crabbed by the Roman church... What you think of Christmas isn't what an Athiest would think. So to you dear "Christian" it is about Jesus's birth( By the way didn't even take place in winter) to an Athiest it would be about Yule and the solstice. Anyways, don't marr yourself as an un-doubted Hippo-crate and let people do as they do.. Jesus would like you keeping people from his "birth" would he.

I don't think of it as celebrating Juesus's birth day. I really do see it as a time for caring and joyful cheer. Family gatherings (even though I hate them). Not all Athiset are Jesus phobes. What do you really expect us to do? be grouchy because the man we don't belive in birthday is here?

It's not all about religion. It can be a good way for a family to get together and exchange gifts, and just spend time with eachother. Besides, it's fun, and traditional.

It's not really about celebrating Jesus' birth, though, considering you guys stole it from the pagans.

They can't help it. Christmas is like an epidemic, but it's a good and permanent one.
