Why do some fundamentalists think they "win" when they do this?

I call it the "Fundie Flood", they just spam a whole books worth of horrible arguments and because you don't want to deal with each one (because they will just continue fundie flooding when you actually do), they think they "win"

Here is an example (your eyes may bleed)

If the Bible is a Catholic book,

1. Why does it condemn clerical dress? (Matt. 23:5-6).

2. Why does it teach against the adoration of Mary? (Luke 11:27-28).

3. Why does it show that all Christians are priests? (1 Pet. 2:5,9).

4. Why does it condemn the observance of special days? (Gal. 4:9-11).

5. Why does it teach that all Christians are saints? (1 Cor. 1:2).

6. Why does it condemn the making and adoration of images? (Ex. 20:4-5).

7. Why does it teach that baptism is immersion instead of pouring? (Col. 2:12).

8. Why does it forbid us to address religious leaders as "father"? (Matt. 23:9).

9. Why does it teach that Christ is the only foundation and not the apostle Peter? (1 Cor. 3:11).

10. Why does it teach that there is one mediator instead of many? (1 Tim. 2:5).

11. Why does it teach that a bishop must be a married man? (1 Tim. 3:2, 4-5).

12. Why is it opposed to the primacy of Peter? (Luke 22:24-27).

13. Why does it oppose the idea of purgatory? (Luke 16:26).

14. Why is it completely silent about infant baptism, instrumental music in worship, indulgences, confession to priests, the rosary, the mass, and many other things in the Catholic Church?

In fact, it can be shown that the New Testament books were gathered into one volume and were in circulation long before the Catholic Church claims to have taken its action in 390 at the council of Hippo. In the following we list some of the catalogues of the books of the Bible which are given by early Christian writers.

326. Athanasius, bishop at Alexandria, mentions all of the New Testament books.

315-386. Cyril, bishop at Jerusalem, gives a list of all New Testament books except Revelation.

270. Eusebius, bishop at Caesarea, called the Father of ecclesiastical history, gives an account of the persecution of Emperor Diocletian whose edict required that all churches be destroyed and the Scriptures burned. He lists all the books of the New Testament. He was commissioned by Constantine to have transcribed fifty copies of the Bible for use of the churches of Constantinople.

185-254. Origen, born at Alexandria, names all the books of both the Old and New Testaments.

165-220. Clement, of Alexandria, names all the books of the New Testament except Philemon, James, 2 Peter and 3 John. In addition we are told by Eusebius, who had the works of Clement, that he gave explanations and quotations from all the canonical books.

160-240. Turtullian, contemporary of Origen and Clement, mentions all the New Testament books except 2 Peter, James and 2 John.

135-200. Irenaeus, quoted from all New Testament books except Philemon, Jude, James and 3 John.

100-147. Justin Martyr, mentions the Gospels as being four in number and quotes from them and some of the epistles of Paul and Revelation.

Besides the above, the early church fathers have handed down in their writings quotations from all the New Testament books so much so that it is said that the entire New Testament can be reproduced from their writings alone.

Update:

"If you don't agree, why would it bother you?"

Because I dislike when people lie about my faith, sorry about that.

"Whoever posted that, is sure 100% on the money right."

I could find influential Christians who used books that are not canonized, would that matter to you? Probably not, then why do you place any value in their thoughts at all.

Most Fundies have the worst arguments. Those 14 questions have been proven false and/or do not represent the true meaning of the Scriptures. Now someone get me a tissue or something for my eyes.

Those are there twisted and misunderstood interpretations of those bible verses with all of them using the most erroneous translations in a bible the King James Version. As for quoting all the early Catholics they were only if the fundies bothered to CK were already enforcing the books they deemed not gnostic as there were many gnostic Gospels and false letters already circulating so they were reminding who ever was reading there letters that these were the Gospels and epistles the Church already had accepted and in 390 the council was held so that all the Bishops of the then known world were gathered to have agreement of what they knew was true. Once a unanimous decision was made it was then agreed upon but the official stamp of bible books approval was not until 1200 yrs later. There are some eastern Churches such as the Coptic's that have even to this day different books or what we might call incomplete versions.

It doesn't make my eyes bleed....but my brain is hurt by how much inaccurate and deceptively incomplete information is included.

In my opinion, it appears to be a Church of Christ member (the point "instrumental music in worship" being a powerful clue).

The apostoles were never a church memebr but to Christ Jesus.

Paul formerly converted as a Pharisee well versed in the Torah.

Do not blind side yourself to religious credentionals to feel this church is better than this one or that one.

Being saved n by grace through faith, abiding in Christ after being revealed Jesus Christ should keep us living holy and fleeing from sins, the ways of the world.

Almost all but Paul were unlearned men but chosen fopr aspecial pirpose from the world.

Obviously there were persecutions . These are the hard things the church and believers faced.

For example a catholic bible does not conatin this verse." The Father the word and holy ghost are one"

Others also especialy the watchtower bible have vast deviations.

The examples of daily living are already hidden within us. The whole term new covenant is one that founded our faith through God and jesus Christ.

There seems some very relavant christian and catholic value that are the same.

AS," God is the same today, yesterday anmd forever"

Bible believing Christians (Protestants) and Roman Catholics agree on which books belong in the New Testament.

The disagreement is this: Which books belong in the Old Testament.

The person who wrote this question, does not appear to understand this, but the person he quotes the bulk of his question from, does.

This article, from the Vatican web site, explains in great detail why Jews and Protestants reject the 16 books of the Apocrypha, and why the RCC added them to the canon in 1546.

    http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cf...

The peson who asked this question does not even teach what the Vatican does.

He is a Catholic who won't even submit to his own Pope.

He disagrees with the person who wrote that article whose link I included.

If you read that article carefully, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Read Matthew 5: 17-20.... This should help you out.

    or Mathew 15: 8,9.....

In summary, if your church's teachings go against what the bible says, then its nothing but rules taught by men. This goes for me as well. The day my church stops following the bible and putting in its own rules/customs, then thats the day I will be going to a different church. Best of luck to you.

    I guess I am confused...

You seem to be equating Fundamental Christianity with Roman Catholicism. The two could not possibly be more in opposition. The beloved Pope sitting in Rome has condemned us "Fundies" and all of our Protestant denominations. While Catholics kowtow to Rome's Dogma, they ignore Biblical truth on a regular basis.

I don't know any "Fundies" who would argue with any of your litany of statements 1-14.

Source(s): And, BTW, who told you the Bible was a Catholic Book? The Roman Catholic Chuirch did not exist until The Great Schism at the end of the first millenium. Followers of the teachings of Jesus was called "Christians" first in Antioch, 45 A.D.
