Moving to Colorado. . .?
My husband and I want to move to Colorado. We have two kids, aged 9 and 7.
My question is what is the best suburb of Denver?
To expand on the question I mean. . . Who has great schools? Good jobs? Where can we rent for no more than $1150.00 a month? Which is located no more than an hour and a half from ski mountains? Low crime rate? Low cost of living?
I know it sounds nit-picky but when there are kids in the pic you have to be!
Any info/ insight you can give is greatly appreciated and will be researched, after all you are the CO experts :-)

I live in Colorado. Try Aurora, Colorado. Side Creek is the best school. Try these sites to see if there are any goods houses/apartments/condos/etc for under $1,150.00
I do not know the crime rate. I think the best jobs are at stores.

Denver is always an iffy place... if you want good schools and cheap living, you wont find both together. The Best Denver Schools are in the Cherry Creek School District, which is in the Richy-Rich part of Town where John Elway and the other Denver Celebrities all live. However if you want decent schools and are willing to pay a more middle class rent for a property, I'd say some Brighton, Berthoud, and Fort Lupton are worth checking into - Brighton being your best bet. To tell you the truth I'd go to Colorado Springs if I still lived in Colorado. The Springs has better schools and for the most part is much safer than Denver.

I suggest Colorado Springs if you're conservative. ^^ I heard somewhere that it has the lowest murder rate in the country and also that it's the Christina capitol (having Focus on the Family and Compassion International's home base). It's one hour from Denver, about 1-2hrs from Monarch Ski Resort.
There is SO much to do in the Springs.
I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment for $1060/month, but houses are much cheaper. My mother pays $500/m I believe for a 5 bedroom, 2-story home with basement and balcony.
Most of the Springs is into zeri-scaping, which is where the yard is mostly made up of rocks, not grass, which is much easier to maintain.
Briargate is a good area, but so is Cheyenne Mountain school district, which is right by the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (home of the largest captive giraffe herd, which you can feed crackers! :D)
You can see my post here for lots of other activities in the Springs:

Move to Boulder, close to mountains, many friendly active people, and lots to do! I lived in Boulder for years and know it like the back of my hand. It is not very dangerous and have decent houses. Schools are nice and people are decent.
