splitting sky signal to 2 sky boxes?

i recently got 2 new sky boxes so decided to put the others in to 2 bedrooms i bought the proper cable and a proper splitter i connected the cable to the dish then to the splitter,i then sent 1 cable to my son's room the other to my daughter's .when i turned on both boxes they worked but when tv guide is pressed in one room the signal disappears in the other and visa verse i was wondering if anybody could tell me the problem .thanks

    You don't split satellite cable like that. The receiver sends tones/voltages over the line to select RF "bands". Splitting a line like that can confuse the recivers, or even damage them.

    You need to have a coax from the dish (with an LNBF which has enough outputs), for and to each tuner.
