Why do people post their personal problems in psychology?

When the majority of their problems isn't somethign like alzheimers, dementia, serious phobias or the type of anxiety psychiatrists would drug you out with Prozac.

Most of these problems are not a psychological disorder, or have to do with how one thinks.

So why do people post them here? Do you really think the problem has to do with your psychology?

Update:

audiejudith, that's exactly what I have complained about before...

I'd say this question is more of a challenge than a complaint, something to stimulate the mind.

I challenge anyone who reads this question to seek professional help for serious problems? If your life is worth living, it's worth improving.

They seem to think that YA psychology section is some sort of place where psychotherapists hang out to work for free in their spare time. *shrug*

I wish this was more similar to the philosophy section, where they actually discuss philosophical questions (that one isn't perfect either, there's a lot of pointless questions there as well, but sure whatever)

Because there is a very small chance people on yahoo answers will know anything about an actual psychological disorder, and people with real problems go to psychiatrists.

And that is the label they deem fit.

You complain about people not coming to yahoo asking about serious questions, inversely I complain about people using yahoo answers as webmd when they should just really see a doctor for symptoms A, B and C. Really, if it's a a real problem, the internet is not the answer.

It is not a question if you or I think it is a psychological problem. Many probably think that not being able to find their cat is a psychological problem. I've seen dumber.
