I know this is asked a lot but IS THIS A GOOD SECURITY COMBO FOR MY LAPTOP?

I have a laptop with 64-bit windows 7.

I use 3 programs.

Avast Home Edition (the free one)

Spybot Search and Destroy

and

Malware Bytes

I also keep the Windows Firewall on.

Should I add anything else? The only complaint I have is Avast seems to slow the boot up time by like 30 seconds but I can live with it as I use hibernate most of the time anyway. And it is free and seems to get the job done.

Your fine...Avast is a AV product and Malwarebytes is a adware/malware/spyware scanner and not a AV product...but the Spybot S/D...I would rather use this....much better spyware known threat database....and its free........

PS: No need for another firewall Windows 7 has a very strong firewall.....and Microsoft does not even recommend another one.

Windows 7 has a perfectly good 2 way firewall. It's just as good as any other free firewall. Comodo is OK. But it can be very aggravating to set up. Stick with what you have. Avast is OK. Use to I wouldn't recommend it because it's weakness has always been Trojans. At one time it had a very hard time detecting them. In recent months it has gotten better.

Malware bytes is OK. But consider downloading rkill to go with it. rkill kills malicious processes. In other words, The free version of malware bytes does not run in real-time. Since it doesn't some malicious processes can keep it from opening or updating. When that happens rkill comes in handy.

Super anti-spyware is a good program. But it basically does the same thing as Malware bytes

Spybot had its day. It's out dated. I personally don't use it anymore. If you have either Super anti-spyware or Malware bytes or both, You don't need spybot.

You should restart your computer at least once a week. By restarting your computer you give your computer a chance to "reset" it's self. If you don't let it reset you will eventually notice it will slow down some. Also, Clean it out with Ccleaner and defrag it once a week.

Those 3 programs work well together. I personally don't care for Avast but that's just me. I would find a better firewall than Windows Firewall. Something like Comodo, http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/ which is free.

Dump spybot, and get superantispyware instead, and yes, you will have a good trifecta.

No, having multiple anti-viruses is an awful, awful idea, You should pick one you like and grab Microsoft Security Essentials from the Microsoft website (it's free!) and turn your computer off, don't just hibernate, your computer needs to be turned off sometimes too!
