Is solipsism "cogito ergo sum" taken to extremes?
'I think, therefore I am' is a self evident proof that one exists.
However, you cannot 'prove' that anyone else truly 'thinks' so therefore taken to extremes, everyone but you could just as well be walking and talking automatons.
If there really is no other way to prove someone else's consciousness, why is solipsism so taboo?

For the very reason you ask, so did others, and so The Problem of Other Minds was created.

Hi, King, If you can't prove another person is conscious with cogito ergo sum, how then can you prove you exist if you are the other person? You are both the other and the self.
There is also my ideation 'you think therefore you are the subject.' What about sensing therefore you are the sensation.
The law of conscious-witness states you can't be the object unless you are the subject.

Solipsism is not taboo because of its unprovability. It is considered taboo because of its relation to extreme selfishness. The fact that solipsism can't be proven only gives added vindication.
