Should I take Latin instead of Spanish?

I'm in Spanish 2 right now and the only reason I'm passing is because of all my extra credit. I'm struggling because I had a terrible Spanish teacher last year, and I made an A without even studying. So I don't really have a solid foundation in Spanish. So would it be beneficial to take Latin next year instead of retaking those Spanish courses?

You should take Spanish because if you go to Mexico or any other Spanish speaking country you will have a hard time with the latin, in other words you would be confusing words. Yes, Latin is the root of Spanish, but you wont be going around places speaking Latin, no one will understand you, so my best advice for you is to take Spanish. And by the way studies show that students who speak Spanish and English fluently have better SAT scores.

Buena suerte con tus maestros o maestras, y lo mas importante es que tienes que aprender Español tu solo, tu maestro o maestra nadamas te esta ayudando a pronunciar todo.

The thing is that a language teacher can only teach you so much...after that you have to make the effort yourself. So you need to be learning the grammar, putting in time and effort and getting better.

You also need motivation. Are there people you can use Spanish with?

On the other hand Latin is nothing more than an academic language and of little practical value, though if you enjoy studying you will enjoy it.

You might get a good Spanish teacher next year, and it would prove more practical than Latin because Latin is only spoken in the Vatican and otherwise is almost extinct.Latin would be practical if you wanted to be a Priest Spanish is also easier and more practical

    Hope this helps

    they're very similar.

i took both in high school, but spanish was easier for me. too much memorization in latin, and i was never good at memorizing things. the upside to latin is that it doesn't matter how you order the words. it only means 1 thing. in spanish, like english, word order is very important. house dog is different than a dog house. in latin, if you want to say dog house, it will be dog house no matter how you order the words. in latin, it's all about the ending. it tells you what type of word it is, whether it be the subject or the predicate.

I'm confused - you have an A in Spanish -you feel you don't know it though?

Yet you are getting an A in Spanish?

Keep with your pathetic teacher if you want a good grade for absolutely nothing ..If you actually want to learn and use Spanish or another language when you leave school, then get another teacher and report this one!
