Worst YA fiction books?

I just like laughing at bad literature for no reason.

I loved the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, but after that.....no. City of Ashes totally sucked in my opinion, and though Clary started our as a great character she turned into a Mary Sue. City of Glass was a huge stepup from City of Ashes but had so much "incest" *SPOILER ALERT* even though they weren

t brother and sister really, what if they had been? They spent the NIGHT togehter.....it was creepy. Plus, her real brother *SPOILER* sebastian also kissed her, so yeah she did kiss her brother.....everything after City of Bones was really pretty bad.

My top worst YA books:

1. The House of Night Series by P.C Cast, i honestly FORCED myself to turn to page 2.....and i finished the book, hoping it would pick up, but it was torture- especially the creepy scene between Eric and Aphrodite in the beginning. I threw the book at the car (literally) and ran away screaming. No joke.

2. Vampire Kisses, by whatever her face is. Raven is a goth girl trying to expose her goth vampire boyfriend and tell everyone he's a vamp, so he breaks up with her and she turns even more goth. TADA. How ridiculous?

3. Wake by Lisa McMann. So sorry but it was disgustingly pointless. I forced myself through half the book then shut it, put it in a box and shipped it to Japan. So sorry, Japan.

4. The Host by Stephenie Meyer. so, give me a break please.....can you say Mary Sue?

5. The Faerie Path by whats her face. Oh my god, do NOT read this book- it is pointless, annoying, and about as deep as a piece of white paper- or less. A girl named Tanya turns out to be a magic fairy princess with powers, a soul mate named Edric (who i am convinced is gay) and...thats it. However that simple plot stretches out for like 9 books.

6. Dark Visions by L. J. Smith. I love Smith's writing, but i swear.....Katelyn is a big fat Mary Sue with no depth, an annoying personality, and it was all just badly written. Great idea turned bad.

7. Evermore by Alyson Noel. Noel's a great writer, but this plotless, UNDEVELOPED book gave me nightmares. I dreamt i wrote books as bad as that one. She has another book thats great out, so why let us down with this one?

8. Percy Jackson- JUST KIDDING :P I meant Perfect Chemistry. I just don't like it period.

9. Twilight by you know who. I think Meyer's writing style is great, but she misuses words, has a mary sue character, and a gay stu (i meant gary stu) and....she killed the concept of vampires.

10. Blue Blood series- just....uck.

    THANK YOU!!

Ugh, I have seen reviews on amazon etc for the most of the books you listed, they're always glowing and I'm just like WTF????

I myself couldn't even get through City of Bones, the story didn't really interest me. (And now that I read your spoiler I'm glad i didn't!) Though Clare can write, I can't fault her that.

The House of Night series is atrocious!! I read it because a friend of mine suggested it to me and I couldn't sell the first book fast enough after I read it. I haven't even glanced at the rest of the series. Zoe is probably the most self-absorbed, self-centered "heroine" I have ever come across in the book, and whilst I am by no means a prude (Seriously who doesn't enjoy a good romance scene in a book?) I found the "Romance" in that book disgusting and completely pointless!!!

The Host was bland and and beyond boring and Evermore is a disgrace. I actually went to the dentist around the time I read Evermore and found that having 8 of my teeth pulled was far less painful than reading that trash.

Blue Bloods, Vampire Kisses etc I haven't read because they have always been recommended by people who read the other garbage you listed.

In terms of adding in my own 2 cents, I recently tried Uglies by scott westerfield and put it down after 5 chapters. I don't know if it's just because I'm too old for it or what the case is but the writing is beyond simplistic and i just couldn't get interested!!

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater was an ok read, but it's also so predictable and simple I didn't bother with the rest of the series.

I'm so glad i'm not the only one who feels this way, I ws beginning to get worried :P

As I am currently rereading the Twilight series (for shock value, mostly) I have to comment on number 9.

Stephenie Meyer does not, by any stretch of the imagination, have a good writing style. I don't think I've ever read any published literature that is *close* to the atrocity that is the Twilight series. Perhaps you need to read someone that can write well.

Here's a few examples from the first book.

-"It's healthy to ditch class now and then." He smiled up at me, but his eyes were still

    troubled.-

Sound familiar? How many times does Meyer use a variant of "his eyes/voice/face/expression was/were *insert adjective here*? At least three or four times a page. You know what that is? That's telling. Telling of the blackest, foulest kind. I ask you, does that make her a good writer? The fact that she breaks one of the most fundamental principles of excellence *more than four times a page*? No, sir. I think not.

    Another example:

(And don't think these are the only examples I can find. I promise you, there are hundreds of variants of these examples).

Mike looked resentful; Angela looked surprised, and slightly awed.

Once again, telling of the vilest kind. Not to mention grammatically incorrect. There are so many grammatical errors in Twilight I want to find her editor and do terrible things to him/her.

Twilight should be number 1. Nothing else can compare.

Vampire Kisses was so bad that it was laughable.

I didn't get through Evermore. It didn't hook me and the characters were very dry and undeveloped. Bleh:P

    Blue Bloods..like you said. uck.

There were a few things that annoyed me about Twilight. There was absolutely nothing special about Bella. Nothing. But Edward just so happened to like her. Then Bella is like 100% dependent on Edward..her personality irritated me.

I still read The House of Night series, because I want to see how its all gonna turn out..but this series should have seriously ended a few books ago. Its stretching on waaay too long, and teenagers don't really talk like that. Its poorly written, and some of the characters are very much shallow and annoying..but like I said I still read it. lol :P

Twilight is the worst I've read so far. What I hate is the massage she's sending. I read the whole series out of curiosity of how she will end the story of Bella. I'd hope that she would come to see that Edward loves her the way she is and she doesn't have to change into vampire. But nooo, she became a vampire and have a half vampire baby. And the Jacob imprinting on the infant is just ridiculous. The entire series revolve around how Bella thinks she worthless without Edward or how she doesn't deserve him.

Source(s): Me reading the whole dame series cuz I already bought it.

THE HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES. It's so badly written, and the writers think that's actually how teenagers talk. No one really calls each other ''twins''s either. The only character I liked was Stevie Rae.

ok i stopped at Vampire Kisses because your stupidity practically gave me an aneurysm. way to troll.

you didn't even ******* read the ******* book did you? if you don't like it, you don't like it, and that's fine. BUT if you don't read it, well **** me if i'm wrong, but then your complaints are invalid.

by the way, if you find yourself not liking teen fiction like these, maybe by now you should be able to figure out what you DO like, and just read something else. i mean i hate Twilight but that does not mean i take it out on every book like it, but at the same time, just because i have read one vampire-romance novel (Vampire Kisses), does not mean i have to read them all.

Vampire Kisses was written very casually and made to sound like the average teenage girl for a reason.

plus i honestly think you have to either be a goth, or to at least have a good understanding of the gothic subculture to get this book, let alone like it. you can't be as egotistical as your acting. but then again someone like you probably won't like any book you read because that would require reading!!

    for your information:

she wasn't trying to "expose" him as a vampire, she wanted to find out if rumors of him being a vampire were true because that would be a dream come true for her, a girl who's obsessed with vampires. by the way yes, he left her because Trevor told him she only like him because she thought he was a vampire. most people would be upset if the person they were dating only liked them because of what they are not who they are.

and yes, she like most people, was very sad over this. it was her first boyfriend and the first person she had met who was like her. not to mention she thought Becky, her best friend, betrayed her. that does not make her more goth, seeing how depression has nothing to do with being goth. and she owned up to have been being stupid and acting like everyone else in town. and she tried to correct things. plus at the end she did end up making up with alexander, and then it leads you into the next book of the series. way to go sherlock.

Source(s): goth, and have actually read the book. that and i have the common sense to stay away from books that i'm not going to read or like.
