Dog has 4 small cuts on his nose?

My Lassie has 3 cuts on his actual nose and one cut on his snout. These are all less than 1 1/2 cm. They were bleeding at first but as soon as we cleaned them with warm cotton wool pads it kind of stopped. We were walking him down our road when a vicious border collie (not that all border collies are vicious as I have a cross of one myself) who was locked in, started snarling at put his paw through the gate and scraped in twice as we could not pull my dog away instantly. If you are going to say vet, don't as we called our local pet store/vet in one and they said it didn't sound that serious and they just recommended the warm cotton wool. It doesn't seem to be bothering him so much to scratch but any tips would be a GREAT help. Thank You!

You can apply neosporin twice a day for 5 days -------try to distract him for 10 minutes, though, for it to work. The problem is that he will probably lick his nose.

Mupirocin is another product that we use at our vet hospital for "cage nose," which happens when dogs rub their noses on the kennels and get them scraped.

I don't know what cotton wool is. Cotton ball? We use antibacterial soap and rinse well.

If the places seem to get infected, then you'd need to actually take him in for antibiotics, but it will probably be fine in a few days. Cage noses take up to a week or more to totally go away.

Treat it like you would any wound. Clean once a day with alcohol and apply a little polysporin. I always offer my dog a bit of peanut butter immediately after so that he forgets to lick it off. Unless it starts to look infected, you don't need to do anything else. If it does start looking bad, call your vet and ask for their opinion. In all likelihood it will heal just fine on its own.

all you can do is keep the wounds clean and keep an eye on them . If they start to bleed and you can't stop it or the wounds start to look infected or smell then of course you need to take him to the vets but not all cuts mean vet care i mean we don't all rush to the doctors when we get small cuts

for the most part just keep an eye on it if it should start to affect him or looks like it's getting infected then I would suggest a vet

otherwise it should be fine if it is a dog that is outside and might dig then you may just want to keep it cleaned

Yeah, I'd just let it be and take your dog to the vet if you notice any signs of infection. It'll probably heal pretty quickly.

I would recommend putting cream on it and put a bandage over it so he can't lick it off. that way it will heal faster and cleaner. Hoped this helped.

Hahahahah - I bet he was chasing a cat and the cat raked his nose. I've seen this quite often.
