crytalline structure - octahedral holes?

Cobalt fluoride crystallizes in a closest packed array of fluoride ions with the cobalt ions filling one half of the octahedral holes. What is the formula of this compound?

I really don't understand how you can use this information to come up with a formula. Any help would be incredibly appreciated!!

Update:

I know the answer is CoF2, I just don't know why.

The rutile structure has (6,3)-coordination. Observe that none of the tetrahedral holes are occupied. The titanium(IV) ions lie in octahedral holes.
