No, probably not; recently there has been an emphasis on "nose-to-tail dining", or eating all parts of an animal out of respect for the life of the creature. Chefs are using these over-looked cuts because they are often cheaper and more flavorful than such bland yet popular cuts as filet mignon or pork loin. These restaurants are probably utilizing organic/free-range/grass-fed and finished/or heritage animals that they buy whole and butcher on site. Although the individual parts might be too expensive, when they butcher it themselves it becomes cheaper, but they need to find ways to use every last piece. Hence, fancy dishes featuring pork trotters, oxtails, or even pigs' ear.

There's more of a reason to get sick. Well perhaps one could use belly fat for a great soup if you're starving to death. Add some rocks in it for a magical twist, along w/thyme, onion and a carrot--VOILA! ~And there ya have it! A nice tasty winter soup.

I love it. It's very tasty and recent studies have found that it's actually good for you. Not to mention that pork it's the other white meat. I'm brown myself, but i actually like it.

It has very high fat content which is great if you spend a lot of time outside in the winter. It also contains a decent amount of protein. It is most commonly eaten by slicing it into thin strips, adding salt and cooking in a frying pan. Traditionally served as a breakfast food. AKA Bacon.

just getting nutrients from the meat.

You realize that most of this section does not eat meat and judging by other responses are offended by it.

it's fatty . I like to cut them thin and BBQ it Korean style or marinate it in a sweet sauce with soy sauce and lots of pepper and put it in the oven. I like it. Lately I get the Kurobuto pigs. Technically it's an ENglish pig but Americans seem to love the stuff when you give it a japanese name to it. Kind of like how we won't eat lavers, but when we call it Nori, it's the bees knees.
