HELP! Guinea pig with broken leg!?

My Guinea pig has a broken or injured leg! I know because it is limping and whines alot, and is hiding in its shelter in its cage. I can't visit a vet, because i live in Shanghai China and unfortunately all they got here is the type for dogs and cats. I'm very worried about it. What should i do? Could it die? How do i diagnose and tell the difference between a injured leg and a properly broken one?

P.S I just cant visit a vet here because one does not exist, unless someone happens to know a method of which they can help find me one.

You are being stubborn here when people suggest taking it to a vet, yes I am sure you do not have exotic vets, however, this is not something you need an exotic vet for, a broken leg on a cat or a guinea pig is exactly the same to treat. So please take your guinea pig to the cat and dog vet as he can help it so it is not suffering OK.

Shanghai is a well-known global town pulling more and more attention from throughout the world; so see what this town is offering with hotelbye . Shanghai is a well known journey destination for visitors. In Shanghai you can see the marvelous Yu Garden (Yù Yuán), also referred to as the Garden of Happiness. This Garden addresses an area greater than 20,000 square meters and consists of an external and an inner garden. The oldest section could be the Outer Garden with further changes being made in the 18th century when Sansui Tang, the park's principal hall, was added. The newer and much smaller Inner Garden times from 1709 and involves characteristics normal of a conventional Chinese writer's Garden: appealing small pavilions, decorative rocks, and small hill ranges, dividing walls and little waters, and even a richly designed theatrical stage.

Maybe I'm answering late but ill try to help from a past experiences of the same quality. Get two tooth picks and a drinking straw, and medical tape. take the straw and cut it to the size of the leg where its broken. cut one side long ways so it can wrap the leg. put the tooth pics on each side of the break and use thin strips of the medical tape and wrap once one top and once on bottom of the break on the leg to make the splint, then put the straw around both the tooth pics and the leg this will stop him from chewing off the tooth picks, tape the straw on and be sure to check it every other hour or so cause he'll bight at it for the first day. keep it on his leg for approximatly a month. That's how long it took mine to heal, they heal fast. Oh he will probably bight you a few time while you do this lol, so have fun but believe me it will work.

Common pain meds for guinea pigs include carprofyn and meloxicam so you can see if the cat and dog vets will prescribe these for your piggie http://www.guinealynx.info/pain.html Learn all you can to help your guinea pig the best possible. If possible try to splint the leg and while he's injured try to limit his activity. I am so sorry you're in this position, hopefully you can get these meds for his pain.

Take it to the vet anyway and if they won't do anything get a pencil or something straight and a bandage or something and tie to it's leg not to tights so it's leg might fall off but just tight enough so that it won't move. That should keep it straight long enough for it to heal . Hope it gets better xx !

Awe poor guy! If you absoutely cannot get to a vet i would suggest keeping him in his cage (smaller area) so he cant move around as much and surely but slowly his leg should heal! Now the sad part to this is that he gonna probably suffer a little bit from the pain but he shouldn't die. Also if i were you i would atleast call a vet somewhere else and ask them what u should do...GOODLUCK! Hope he gets better!

Yes,many people in Shanghai like dogs and cats, but it's certain that there will be a pet hospital in Shanghai, you can just search it on Internet~or ask your Chinese friends to help you looking for that if you are not so familiar with Baidu.

Btw,if you'd like to rent luxury apartments,I think we can help you!~

If you can not get to a vet leave it alone all the time! Cover his cage with a thin cloth so light doesn't bother him and put his food near him so he doesn't move that much.

Yea you need to go to a vet right away. If his leg is broken, it could heal in the wrong way and might give him a deformity, etc. So go here and type in ur zip code http://www.veterinarians.com/
