Best way to transfer Xbox360 game data to new Xbox?
Hi there,
So my roommate is moving out after this year and he will be taking his Xbox 360 with him. We both have only used that Xbox360 for the past 2 years, and I have some game data that I want to transfer to a different Xbox360. I'm not looking to transfer a LIVE account or Profile, just some saved files from 2 games (NHL12 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim) - I don't mind starting new files in the other games that I have. The physical game discs are mine, so I could start new files on a different Xbox360, but I've put a lot of hours into my existing files and I would like to continue them.
What is the cheapest/easiest way to transfer this data? I went into Best Buy and all they have is a 320GB memory unit/HD that costs around $150. I'm just looking to transfer a few saved game files, not a mammoth amount of data. I have a 16GB USB Key, and a 1TB External HD (both which I for computer files, I haven't tested them on an Xbox). Would either of those work (The USB Key is Duracell, and the External HD is Lacie if that matters)?

Easiest thing would be to use the hard drive. Plug it in, and it'll create a 16 GB file on the hard drive that the 360 will use, and leave the rest of it for your PC stuff. Once it does that, it'll show up as a memory card, and you can copy the saves or whatever you want onto it.
Just a warning -- saves are tied to the profile that created them, so if you've been sharing a profile, you can't just take the saves and start using them with a new account.
