Call of duty 4 does not work on my PC?

I have call of duty 4 modern warfare installed on my pc and when I open it,it crashes immediately with the error message"iw3sp.exe has stopped working". I also tried the enable stereo mix fix but it still doesn't work. I also tried reinstalling it but it still doesn't work. Can someone help me out?. Multiplayer also does not work but it doesn't matter.

There’s a pretty simple fix that worked for me:

Open the game’s installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 – Modern Warfare) and open the “miles” folder. Rename mssmp3.asi to something else like mssmp3.bak. Whatever the file does, it shouldn’t be missed too much, and it should instantly fix the problem.

Other fixes I’ve read about include installing the v1.5 patch, updating your audio driver software, and plugging headphones into your headphone jack.

i'm having a similar project. even however i replaced into in a position to connect 3 or 4 circumstances final night, lots of the connections i began timed out. i'm hoping that someplace in a config report you are able to set the dimensions of time it waits for a reaction, because of the fact when I used to play cod2 i infrequently linked to a server in decrease than 10 seconds. i locate it no longer uncomplicated to have faith they does not uncomplicated code something like that, because of the fact for sure some somewhat everyone seems to be going to have longer connection circumstances than 10 seconds looking on your ISP and your router etc, etc. and that i've got additionally seen this remark doping up on some boards, so i think of its surprisingly familiar, so their could be a answer quickly.
