My new tv sound keeps getting loud and then quiet?

I got the 40 in 1080p element lcd tv from target on black friday and we just hooked everything up and when I turn it on to a channel, the sound keeps getting loud and then it gets quieter over and over again. It's a basic cable set up where the cable just screws into the back so there isnt really any technical aspect that I could have done wrong. What could be causing this? Should I just return the tv?

    I would complain to where you bought it.

    there is a trouble on sound volume circuit.........probably a bad capacitor.
