Hello, leticia, it's a very silly question indeed. If you want the best get iPad as it is a much better device that has a larger screen, two cameras, and over 500,000 apps/games in iTunes store. However, it is also much more expensive, heavier and less portable to take with you on the go. Kindle Fire is not a replacement as it is one underpowered device. Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble clearly is the superior device. How about choppy video vs. smooth video or choppy apps vs. smooth apps - all reviewers noted much better performance of Nook Tablet over Kindle Fire in "choppiness" department - that's where 1 GB or RAM, better software and better screen come to play. Also, Nook Tablet has microSD slot (not on Kindle), a mic for Skype (not on Kindle), and physical volume controls on the side (not on Kindle).

    See sample pro review:

    CNET:

We streamed Netflix side by side with the Kindle Fire, and head-to-head comparisons were very favorable to the Nook--it simply looked better. Both tablets have the same app, but the Nook Tablet's picture looked more vivid and detailed. The Nook Tablet also has physical volume controls on the side, which come in handy--the Kindle Fire strangely lacks them. The screen, which is a higher-quality IPS display than the Kindle Fire, really shows off Netflix and Hulu Plus to amazing effect...

It's the best screen on a budget tablet that I've ever seen. More storage--both onboard (16GB) and via microSD expansion--and the ability to read EPUB files could be big news for those who want flexibility. There's plenty of expansion room, and you'll have a hard time running out of space for your apps or your magazine downloads.

The iPad is a much better device, but costs more than twice as much. So it's a trade off depending upon which features mean the most to you. If you're primarily interested in reading, you'll be better off with an e-ink device instead of the LCD screen on the Kindle Fire or iPad. Both cause eye strain and have problems with glare in direct sunlight. E-ink devices are much easier on the eyes and can cope better with glare, plus they're much cheaper. You might consider an e-ink Kindle (I personally like the Kindle Keyboard) and a gift certificate for books on it instead of a tablet.

As a Kindle Fire owner, if I could have afforded an iPad 2, I would have gotten that in a heart beat.

The iPad 2 has a screen twice as big, much better for watching video or web browsing, and it's a far more capable device.

The iPad has a Kindle App, so you can read Kindle books on it. Or you can get a Nook App and read Nook books on it.

Kindle Fire doesn't even deserve to be called a tablet. If your only other choice must be the ipad, I guess you gotta go with that.

Anything the kindle can do, the iPad can do 5x better. If you have ever read a book on an iPad... It's amazing. Everything is so clear and vivid.
