Moving to SF, freaking out about move?
I'm moving to the bay area from the east coast b/c my fiance got a transfer there. I can't stop worrying about it; money, jobs, the move, ugghhh all of it. I just got done with grad school for HR, I'm 27, so I guess now is as good of time as any but I just need some advice to reinforce myself. Any help along the criteria I mentioned would be much appreciated. Gracias.

Start applying for jobs NOW!! Lots can be done on-line. HR is human resources right? There are several large firms in the SF area. The public transportation is really good, so you might not need a car. Is your fiance's firm helping in locating a place to live? Hopefully you can get advice from people who are there. There is a lot to do and see in SF. You will never be bored! North from SF is the wine country and there are redwoods too! Go online and look at street maps and tourist pages. You are going on an adventure to one of the best cities in the USA to live in!

Can't help you with money or a job, especially since you didn't say what you do; but I can give you some encouragement for the move.
When in doubt, spend the money to have someone do moving for you, including taking things upstairs. Don't take anything with you that you don't absolutely need. Take many days to pack, do it methodically, labeling everything by the room it goes in.
Don't forget to take deep breaths.
You said you're moving to SF, but then said you're moving to the Bay Area. If it's SF, note that parking will be a hassle, and be sure to look at every single parking notification when you park, especially for street cleaning days. It's a $60 ticket.
You'll love the city. Bon voyage and wilkommen.

if you are coming from say boston, DC or NYC, the same issues you are dealing with high cost of living will apply to here as well. We can't really help you out with some direction, because you don't say where your fiance's job is, what part of the bay area you are moving to etc. The bay area is quite big and has many pockets of affordable and not affordable areas. If you can, stay out of the area around Palo Alto, that is very expensive. You may try parts of the east bay. you can easily hop on BART, the local metro from very nice suburbs that are more affordable.
you just have to determine where you want to live, what our budget is, etc.

You didnt not say what part of the nine-county bay area you are moving to. It makes quite a difference where you are going to live. Why are you so afraid of moving? you are only 27. I drove across country and moved overseas before I was 25 by myself.
