Do you get the blues at Christmas time?

Not really.I decorate and reflect on the birth of Jesus.I play Christmas music that I have listened to for many years and of course watch A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I also bake items for my friends at our animal rescue center on the weekends.Plus I avoid people that annoy me.

A lot of people get the holiday blues, sometimes its because (like you) they have lost someone or experienced some hardship around the holidays and are reminded, but a lot of people have what is called Seasonal Affective Disorder which is a form of major depression caused by the darkness and cold weather associated with the Christmas holidays.

I usually treat SAD with a special light made by a company called Northern Lights. There are also anti-depressants available for SAD like Wellbutrin, but I will only use drugs to treat SAD if the patient is also depressed during the rest of the year.

The northern lights systems are effective but expensive, they are made to imitate natural sunlight which is an expensive technology.

If you can afford it, I suggest getting a Norther Lights light or another brand (they are know as SAD lights) but expect to spend at least $150. Any cheaper light will probably not be made correctly and will not work.
