im sure she is probably getting enough, is she gaining weight well, and wetting diapers? if so its probably ok, babies will eat when they are hungry, so if she is sleeping shes content at least for now

The best way to know whether or not a baby is feeding enough is by her weight gain. If she is content with breast milk, gaining weight well and doing wees and poos you don't have anything to worry about. Your baby should have been weighed enough times by now for you to know if her weight gain is going well or not, but if you continue to feel concerned about your baby's feeding talk to your health visitior or GP about it. I hope this helps.
I've just seen your additional details and I wanted to add, I understand how upsetting it is because my daughter lost over 10% of her birthweight, I just made her eat every three hours without fail, even at night time, and she soon gained weight and once she started gaining her appetite picked right up and now I only feed her on demand, she is 10 weeks old tomorrow, she weighed 6lb14oz at birth, dropped down to 6lb1oz and at her last weigh in two weeks ago she was 9lb11oz so don't panic! Just make sure she feeds well and persevere with getting her to breastfeed atleast once every three hours. All the best to you!

My son had reflux and he would spit up a lot, sometimes quite a while after he had eaten. Our doctor wanted to do an upper GI on him, but I just couldn't make my 4 week old baby drink barium and put him through all those tests. Instead we made improvements at home. I started feeding him Enfamil AR, we always fed him in an upright position, burping regularly. We kept him upright for atleast 30 minutes after eating. I also had my doctor's approval to let him sleep on his stomach because he would sometimes spit up in his sleep and I was worried he would choke on it. Is your son super fussy? If so, then you might need to see about putting him on a medicine to help him be more comfortable. My son was not fussy so I don't think the reflux was painful for him, he just spit up everywhere and all the time. He has also always been on the thin side and I think that's partly because of the reflux when he was a baby. Hopefully your doctor won't require an upper GI before giving you meds to try. If the things I had tried at home, hadn't helped, or if my son was really cranky and seemed to be in pain, I would have insisted on meds without putting him through the GI. I've heard of several doctors who will let you try them out without putting the baby through lots of tests. Maybe your doctor will be one of them, if those are needed. Good luck! My son is now a healthy 2 and a half year old. He finally stopped the major spitting up around 10 months when he was upright most of the time and eating lots of solid foods.

how often do you feed her? My baby was underweight when she was born so i was told to feed her every 2 hours even if she wasn't hungry or sleeping, i would have to wake her up to feed. She started gaining the weight fast, she gained the appetite and i was producing lots of milk. Maybe you could do that also if you arent already. Or you could feed her every hour and get her used to that. But at night time, make it every 2-3 hrs because mama needs some sleep too! If shes not gaining weight, you def don't want your baby sleeping through the night. you have to wake her up for feeds.

Did you try giving her the formula before she went to sleep? If not, you may have to wake her to get her to take the formula. She might be content with just the breast, so you can let her sleep for about an hr, wake her and give her the bottle....Just until she gets some weight on her.
We had to wake our daughter up for feedings! It was not fun doing that but she was under weight as well.

"What can I do to increase my baby's weight gain?
There are several simple things that have been proven to help with weight gain:
If supplements are medically indicated, breastmilk is preferred over formula as a supplement (exceptions to this are rare), and the average fat/calorie content of mom's milk is higher than that of formula. Mom can pump for 5-10 minutes after nursing (don't interrupt or shorten the nursing session to do this), and offer this higher-fat hindmilk to baby as needed."

& read through http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/milk/infant-form... -- why are you giving formula? If you want to nurse successfully this is not the way to do it and the formula is not good for her health. She is fussy about the breast because she is getting bottles; you really need to stop the bottles and just ride out the fusses. Read http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/back-to-b...
