How would you end or limit abuse on the entitlement system?

Abuse of the system is a real problem but we cannot have the systems cut out for those who genuinely need it. How would you fix the system so abuse is harder.

The same way you enforce the tax system. You have an agency that investigates, penalizes, and publicly prosecutes fraud.

The federal government needs to announce that in the upcoming eight years, all federal welfare programs will be scaled back until they are eliminated. During the four years which follow, the federal government will fund grants to states and communities; those locations which demonstrate they can successfully address their welfare issues. At the end of four years individual states and communities will determine their own spending.

Social Security will evolve to become the ownership of the individual worker. An initial amount of three percent of one's present contribution will be made available for the worker to place in their own retirement fund. This amount will increase as the baby boom generation moves through the curve. The ultimate objective being that a worker owns his or her retirement and determines how such will be invested. No funds will end up in the federal treasury to be wasted on more failed social engineering programs.

The massively abused food stamps program will instead be directed toward commodity foods. Granted, this will not have number of selections as do the local grocery stores, but the available food supply will be nutritionally balanced. Those who complain about the switch will be encouraged to seek employment to pay for their meal preferences.

To eliminate poverty as a political asset, it will be necessary to remove from the voter rolls those who receive public assistance.

The state systems are a mess! Most states do a yearly review to update if the person needs more or less needs...All you have to do it lie and they don't crosscheck they just take the persons word for it. I only know because my friend is a social worker in my county for the state. She said at this point each worker is handling about 40 cases, do you really think with that many cases a worker has to time crosscheck paperwork? They need to hire more workers, limit the amount of cases and check EVERYTHING, that would def. limit those getting assistance that don't need it.

It's a hugely over-exaggerated problem. There was a case (not the indefinite modifier and the use of the singular noun) wherein a food stamp recipient played the lottery in Michigan and won, so in this particular instance a millionaire got food stamps. Republicans recently spent several hundred thousand dollars to make this illegal.

Is this the Tea Party solution to today's economic ills?

No cash. Vouchers only for specified necessary expenses with receipts from use to show where the aid went. Work requirement for the able-bodied: clean up ditches, parks, etc.; yard work and snow removal for the low-income elderly and disabled; child care to free others for the work, etc. We would need to identify jobs not already being done by paid workers.

Negotiate prices for the drug program. Review and audit payments for Medicare/Medicaid.

Do not give increased aid for children born while parents are on welfare but provide birth control.

I would start with Congress. Subsidized health insurance, meals, travel and pensions.

The staff at my doctors office has begun asking for ID, that seems like a good way to reduce Medicare and Medicaid fraud. Better yet would be Universal Health Care.

There are far too many non profit agencies that should be investigated and many shut down. Same for many phony religious institutions, hospitals and universities.

Unfortunately the only thing that will work is another severe Depression where charity is given only by individuals, churches and private organizations. Those who refuse to work and earn a living will starve or die. The liberals and illegal aliens would be put out and shut out since the assets would no longer be there to give them the "free entitlements" they demand.

It would be a much needed reckoning that would once again restore the spirit of America and let it grow from a fresh new beginning. And hopefully the liberal insanity that created the corruption and rot of America from within would never again be repeated.

Intentional ignorance of the truth = liberal insanity.

I don't know, but 'Annie' is likely a 20-year-old idiot, who has a long time to be an idiot, and who, if she as a job and pays into SS and Medicare, will likely thank God for income from these programs when she's an old idiot.
