10 PTS! write the equation of the line passing through (2,-7) , (2,0) , (2,5)?

I need a little help with this please. I am trying to help a 13 year old, but I need a little assistance understanding it myself. Thank you.

Update:

Ok. Cool. I understand how x=2. Thank you. What about the Y? Thank you

    The three points have 2 as their x coordinate. So the equation is x=2.

    This is a vertical line passing through (2,-7), (2,0), (2,5), and (2,anything).

    Edit:

    Y is "hidden".

    The equation of a line in slope-intercept form (y=mx+b) can be written as 1y= mx+b (the coefficient of y is 1).

    In your case the coefficient of y is zero.

    x=2 can be written as 0y= x -2

    y does not show up because here x is "independent" of y. In other words, x is 2 regardless of any value assigned to y.

    Hope this helps.

    y= mx + b

    point(x,y)

    In most cases you need to find out the values of m and b following some certain steps (Taking two of the points given and replace x and y (e.g. for point (2,5) we have 5 = 2x+b ) in the above equation creating two equations and then subtracting the one from the other in order to find the values of the unknown variables m and b). In that case we notice that x has always the same value while the value of y changes in each point. So the equation of the line passing through those points is x=2
