Would adding more yeast make wine ferment faster?

I put 3 packets of bakers' yeast in a 1 gallon distilled water/2 lbs sugar solution. I know this isn't going to taste good. Anyway, i have a tube going from the cap on the jug into a cup of water to serve as an air lock. This is day 4 and there is an almost constant stream of bubbles coming out of the tube. It just seems like it's going fast. Did the extra yeast cause this?

Sounds like you certainly kick started it and the extra yeast is making it work quickly, however, just a few grains of yeast has millions of cells that would reproduce and do the same thing; it would just take longer.

    Interesting hobby, isn't it!
