Sounds like you may have come out the wrong end.

Coloured smog isn't anything to worry about, it's just what the non-physical areas between the various astral planes happen to be filled with. The brownness suggests you were hanging around near one of the lower planes - which seem to be fairly dull, bland places.

You didn't see your room just because your room isn't in the astral planes. If you'd been having an etheric projection, odds are you would have - people tend to have a random mixture of the two types of experience, so maybe next time.

If your learning, then you wont see much to begin with bc your 3rd eye isn't strong yet. The "smog" is like a screen you have to see through. my first travel, i was trying to go to a place in time where i lived before. I ended up in what is call the Meadow of the Gods. I couldn't tell at first either but each time i tried, that's where i ended up. I couldn't see it myself at first but my teacher and friend followed me each time and helped me see. your brown murky sky is like my black pit. Your eye needs to build and become stronger. Keep trying. If after some time you still see the same thing and nothing more, then your doing something wrong or you going somewhere you shouldn't be
